So my dad rents a house where me and my family all live. I was wondering if I ctb in the house can he be in any sort of trouble legally because of the landlord? Not sure if that makes sense but I couldn't find anything online.

Dying is not illegal, and I've never seen anything in a lease that says tenants are prohibited from dying on the property. Nothing to worry about. :)

It all depends on which country you are in, I think you can find out about the rights of tenants according to the law of your country.
but I just don't want him to be held liable for anything because technically when someone dies in a house it lowers the value of the home, at least that's my understanding:/

It's not good idea to ctb at home. Do it elsewhere. Forest, hotel room, etc. Many people never seen dead bodies. Don't let your dad see his first dead body is his child.

Some states require real estate sellers to disclose whether there has been a death on the property in the last few years. It could diminish the value of the property. This may be a factor to consider.

I'm from the US. I've rented many homes, I'm not a young person. Your father can only be held liable for physical damage to the property, not reputation damage.
Edit: the landlord can refuse to renew the lease, but he can't hold your father liable for property value loss because someone died on the property. People die. Renters die. Even ctb.

I agree,plus the fact Dad and family probably won't be able to bear living there anymore.
My other option was hotel room but I also don't want to traumatize a random hotel employee. I don't want to do it to my dad or family either, but I was planning on scheduling an email to warn them not to try to go in. It's probably dumb but it's what I'm thinking.

i think a hotel is better option.. its sad to traumatise any one but the hotel staff would forget about it eventually, your family would probably never ): its safer at hotel atleast the employee who finds u could find a differwnt work place.. it would be harder to live in the house where u CTB and hard to move out and leave memories behind but ultimately is up to you

without knowing specifics, it's difficult to give a correct answer. As a landlord, with the looming real estate implosion, and other issues... if I got a call from police/city officials or whomever telling me I had a suscided body in my rental... nope, I'm tapping out and selling that property.

Are the feelings of a stranger more important than those of your family members?
that may seem like a callous and hard question to answer and I don't mean it like that, but it's important that you think about the pros and cons of doing it in your house vs a hotel. and the fact that in reality, finding a body is infinitely more traumatizing for a family member who has known you for many years or even your entire life, than to someone who probably doesn't even know your name.
I'm doing it in a hotel mainly because of that reason, I can't even imagine what it would be like to be the one who finds the corpse of a beloved family member, people tend to relive those traumatic memories over and over.
And hotels don't have to tell you if someone killed themselves in one of their rooms, but some people will dig for that information if they are looking to rent a place.

Look up the landlord tenant law in CA. It's online. If I'm wrong, please post here that I am!
Others are also giving good advice and suggesting a wider perspective. It's a bad idea to ctb at home, but I don't think it's because your dad will have any liability.
People suicide at hotels. It is not unexpected. You can ctb in the bathroom, lock the door, and leave a note outside the door. Or get a suite with a separate bedroom and lock that door and put a note on it. The hotels will be able to get the doors open, but it will stop the person from just walking in, in case they don't at first notice the note or can't read English. I'd leave a couple of warning notes out in the room.
