I just made a thread on here about my dental anxiety keeping me awake and it's upsetting me. I grabbed a necktie and wrapped it round my neck and just pulled it tight. Instead of the normal exploding head feeling I felt so faint And everything started fading but then I panicked and let go. I can't quite put a finger on how I feel. I'm anxious and depressed because of the reasons why I want to ctb but also happy/scared that I may have a method that will be successful. I'm a bit of an emotional mess at the moment. If it wasn't for the fact that my parents are home and asleep in the next room, I would probably attempt to ctb right now.

I have a lot of compassion for how you're feeling right now, wanted to say that first. At the same time, I'm envious. Are you able to repeat it? If you can practice and keep repeating it, then when the time is right you'll be able to do it. Maybe since it was that easy you can use a tourniquet rather than hang, it will be easier and your appearance will be better from the photos I've seen.

Im envious. I wish I found a way to compress mine. You might struggle again to find it though.

I've tried again just now and again I felt incredibly faint in about 3 seconds. It's a terrifying feeling to be honest. I think I'm going to try and keep repeating it to see if I can get myself used to how it feels. Maybe if I get used to it, I won't back out when the times comes.

I don't know if it's because I've been tilting my head back that I've been able to expose and compress those carotids. I just looked up to the ceiling, pulled the necktie tight around my neck and then things started fading

Does it feel good? You just feel like you're fainting as if you were falling asleep?

It's hard to explain. It feels good and scary at the same time. It does kinda feel like you're about to fall asleep because you feel woozy and things start to fade but because I'm aware that I'm not falling asleep, I'm passing out because I could die, it's a scary feeling. If that makes sense? And I get this weird pressure feeling high up in my nose like it's affected my sinuses or I'm about to have a nose bleed.

Where on the neck were you placing it, and how hard were you pulling?
Is it terrifying because you know you've sort of found the 'exit button'?

Directly on top of where my carotid pulses are and I don't think I'm pulling that hard at all. The necktie I'm using isn't cutting into my neck.

Yes, part of the reason why it's scary is because it's like my exit button. I finally found it and it makes it feel more real. It seems to easy now to just fade away into nothingness permanently. It's also scary because of how it feels physically. I feel faint and my body feels so heavy and kinda numb.

I've badly wanted to practice this lately but am afraid of going too far by accident. I'm not intending to die yet.

Yeah I definitely do not recommend attempting if you are not ready to go. There's always that risk of something going wrong.

I know this sounds terrible... but when I was in middle school we used to do this for fun. We thought of it as getting high (drugs weren't really a thing back then for youngins).

When I think about it now we were really stupid, but I wonder how easy it would be to ctb this way.

I had a go at finding my carotids by pressing my fingers firmly into my neck and holding the pressure as long as possible. I felt faint fairly quickly, my vision closed in and there was ringing in my ears. The longer I held, the more my arms began to shake, until I lost the ability to keep the pressure on. Then there was a euphoric rush as things came back to normal.

I was attempting to faint, but each time I repeated, I lost strength in my arms before passing out. There was no pain or discomfort. I didn't want to try a rope in case I botched it or couldn't remove it in time.

All in all, no pain and no damage. But I would fear to try the ratchet method because I don't feel experienced enough to get it right first time without the dexterity and feedback fingers provide, and if it went wrong, and I couldn't loosen the strap, who knows how I'd end up.

I hope your research and investigation is secure and painless and wish you well in whatever your choice is.

Thank you. Euphoric is definitely a good word to describe it. Even though it scares me, there's a part of me that enjoyed how it felt to the point where I kept trying over and over to feel that rush.

I believe there are stories of kids accidentally killing themselves as a result of these games which is really sad. I understand the whole getting high thing because it does feel pretty good

I did this earlier after setting things up in case I went through with it. When I felt my consciousness start to fade I freaked out and stood up. I don't know what I was expecting but I was scared by how easy it was. It wasn't even a bad feeling, just a headrush and the sensation of fading away. I've never felt anything like it. It frightens me because it's such an easy method I can't imagine ever not having it at my disposal.

I get what you're saying about how its scary because it seems so easy. A few more seconds and you'll no longer exist in this world.

Don't forget you will convulse and move around violently, that could mess it all up. I almost forgot about that part and now I just gave up altogether. I was never able to find my carotid though

Yeah unfortunately there's nothing I can do to prevent those convulsions. I'm just hoping I'll be lucky and mine won't be so violent.

Ah that's a good find I'm very happy for you and in some way I know how you feel. I've been practicing for a while with a rope and I'm glad to say that I see stars after 10-15 s after I pull the rope just bellow the jaw. It gets me excited and fascinated on the easiness of this method
