This is little thread where I can share parts of the story I've been writing lately.
Since there are a handful of deeply written characters, I'll post to this thread once a day, allowing me to reflect and detail each character specifically.
At the end, I'll compose a collective piece on which character is my favourite and why.
Generally in the given format:
Character Name
Notable character quote
Character background
My personal thoughts
Fun Facts (if applicable)
Extended info
#1:
~Marx~
CQ:
"I'm leaving the Empire. And, I feel you should do the same. Until then, I leave it to you."
CB:
Marx is a soldier of the Grandiose Empire and Ryutai's older brother. His birthplace is Moore and he moved to the neighbouring town when he became a soldier in the Empire's military. He is brash, impatient and straightforward. He tends to act without thinking and leave strategy and planning to others, which often causes trouble for him. He can be rude or inconsiderate when dealing with others. He is not to be mistaken as a dullard, as he can improvise clever plans when called upon. Even so, Marx acknowledges that Ryutai is the brains of the two of them and he trusts his judgement. Marx defiantly opposes artificial human enhancements, stating quote:
Marx
"To allow yourself to be subjected as a
guinea pig, a trade for higher power,
versus a normal life."
The implication Marx gives when he shows worry and concern about Ryutai remaining within the empire after his resignation, would be due to his fears Ryutai could be exposed or even subjected to Infusion as the Imperial Army. Even when he abandoned the Empire, Marx did not stay far and lived in close proximity to the Empire—in a dwelling in the neighbouring town. Marx is close to his brother and trusts him implicitly even after not seeing him for two years.
PT:
Marx has a strong sense of morals and attachment to his family. He left the Empire to his brother because he felt the nobility didn't care about their father's death and were only concerned with power; in truth the Empire was founded on the basis of power and dominion. He was furious when none paid mind to the rumours the Empire destroyed Moore, both his and Ryutai's birth towns and the Empire's more nefarious intentions.
Fun Fact:
Marx was the only other soldier in the Empire to reach 2nd rank. A recurring motif is that recruits of the empire do not live achieve above 3rd rank, as the Empire is notoriously known for artificially imbuing its 2nd and 1st rank soldiers.
Ext.
Marx's weapon of choice was the use of a specialised gun fashioned with a large, sharp sword using a semi-automatic pistol, resembling a Beretta. The sword's blade had a heavily worn exterior, with innumerable scratches visible along its length. It was forged from a legendary blacksmith in Moore before the tragedy struck. Only two of its kind still exist.
When Marx rose to 2nd rank, he was given the Leo-Heart as a gift in commemoration of his achievements—a legendary weapon crafted by the same smithy from Moore.
The weapon was forged from rare material steeped in ancient Echarea legend. Due to its rarity, Marx has never used it while serving the military. The Leo-Heart was attempted to be used during the town's incident.
