In this world where we must work to survive. Where we are judged & hated for our differences. Where it's not OK to even desire to leave this life.
Could this actually be Hell itself?🌹💔

Heaven? Hell? I'd put it somewhere in-between personally. One thing is for sure though, it's a joke of an existence and a lifelong lesson in futility learned through practice and experience. Honestly, life isn't even a joke unless you could potentially equate it to some kind of "your mom" joke in regards to depth. There really isn't much to this reality whatsoever and it basically amounts to an insubstantial waiting room where we twiddle our thumbs while believing we possess some sort of ill-conceived notion of personal agency due to our sentience hard-wiring a god complex into our brains making us believe we are special.

If this reality actually had any substance to it other than base desires guiding us along like a carrot on a stick I could possibly see this limbo as something more but as it is, doubtful.

It's more or less a lesson in futility or a "stress test" at best.

life was an amazing gift, but humans got greedy and selfish and fucked it up. and now the rest of us are blamed for not wanting to live in this messed up world as if we're the problem.

Ive been thinking about this a lot lately, but there is just too much beauty in nature and animals to think it is hell. It is hell for some while it is like heaven for others so I guess it is in-between the two.

"For the world is Hell, and men are on the one hand the tormented souls and on the other the devils in it."

"The life of an individual is a constant struggle, and not merely a metaphorical one against want or boredom, but also an actual struggle against other people. He discovers adversaries everywhere, lives in continual conflict and dies with sword in hand."

― Arthur Schopenhauer

I don't have exact quotes, but in his main book Schopenhauer said that the world is not good, it is just on the edge of total hell. Like a little more and it would be totally unlivable.

And that nature, the sunset etc., is just a visual thing that has nothing to do with happiness.

Whether I agree or not: it depends on the mood and the period of life.

But it's hard to deny what he said.

Some might interpret life as resembling a form of "Hell" because of the prevalence of suffering, cruelty, and hardship. one could argue that if Hell is defined as a place where suffering is inescapable, then life itself, with its inherent struggles and pain, could feel like such a place.

when society often encourages people to embrace life no matter the cost. Those who question this mindset or express a desire to leave are often labeled as "crazy" or "irrational." The pressure to stay, to endure suffering, can feel like a trap, as if the very act of wanting to escape this "Hell" is stigmatized or seen as abnormal.

Some Christian theological traditions believe that Hell is simply a life without God. By that definition, we are in Hell.

But I think it's a mistake to assign external meaning or purpose to the world. The world only has the meaning and purpose that we give it.

Relevant Bell Jar quote:
I could tell he thought I was crazy as a loon, because I told him I believed in hell, and that certain people, like me, had to live in hell before they died, to make up for missing out on it after death, since they didn't believe in life after death, and what each person believed happened to him when he died.

Hi fellow sad teddy bear 🥺

As a Christian (with some minority untraditional interpretations) I believe hell is just a final judgment at the end of time when Jesus returns to resurrect all dead bodies (and hell is not eternal). So there is no hell yet imo.

But the Bible sure admits and describes how this current life and universe is full of suffering, but it's a result of human sin. All the pain and death (even for animals) is caused by Adam and Eve disobeying God and we continue the legacy by hating and abusing each other and nature.

But the Christian hope is that one day the world is destroyed, the wicked judged and the redeemed are resurrected bodily to live in a new restored universe where suffering, pain, sorrow, sin and death is impossible in new laws of physics. As a believer I know I will have a second life, so I can't wait to die in this current twisted life and wake up in the new universe in a new body incapable of experiencing depression, anxiety and backpain.

And that nature, the sunset etc., is just a visual thing that has nothing to do with happiness.

Whether I agree or not: it depends on the mood and the period of life.

But it's hard to deny what he said.
It is a highly competitive survival of he fittest, dog eat dog world where money rules and the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, This is becoming more and more apparent while the division dramatically increases. We are judged on what we have or have not according to society standards which are increasingly being raised, and this sets us up to succeed or fail. According too the bible money is the root of all evil. So our very existence in this life rellies on evil. Further more we cannot survive in this world without killing other living things, weather they be plants or animals or leaving a carbon footprint that has a negative impact on the environment. People are becoming increasing more focused on pleasure, procreation, competing with the Joneses and the destruction of the environment to support an ever increasing greedy population. So I agree we are close on the edge.

However I don't agree with nature, sunsets having little to do with happiness. I think this is some kind of spiritual assumption. Beauty is is what it is and there is much of that in nature. My dog gave me so much happiness when she was alive and studies have shown just looking at trees can make us feel better. Plus there are feel good microbes in the soil, which is why I always felt better when gardening. Regardless I think we only have fleeting moments of happiness and we hope to have more of these than not.

Also I have heard people argue against the theory that this life is hell because they say their lives are really good and they would describe it more like heaven.

Extreme Pain is much worse than people know

Life has always been the worst hell. Reasons on top of reasons why.

Let's start with other animals. They constantly tell us nature is beautiful . But most animals died by being eaten alive by other animals, parasites or bacteria .

Most humans end up very old suffering in nursing homes.. I worked in a nursing home : it's unimaginable torture

Just one need :
Every animal including every human animal has to work all day to constantly eat "food" ( usually killing other animals then eating them)

There is no reason to work so hard just to exist waiting for extreme torture to trap u. Life is meaningless anyway.

100's of very horrible things that can happen to anyone any day

A brain that can suffer long lasting constant unbearable pain is an abomination

Depending on the conditions you were born into its either heaven, purgatory as said above or hell. I can't comprehend how someone living in "hell" (I'd imagine war torn countries, extreme poverty, human trafficking, etc...) wouldn't just ctb at the first chance when all the odds are stacked against you from the moment you're born. Maybe it's ignorance or a sense of false hope.

It truly feels like such to me, I see the existence of life as the most horrific tragedy that just caused endless amounts of suffering and agony with no limit as to how much one can be tormented, personally I only wish for true peace from this cruel, torturous existence and peace for me could only ever lie in never existing again where I'm unable to suffer in any way, I only hope to never suffer again.

I've had that thought. I've been so distressed and depressed that I think this existance is either a dream or hell, because it sure isn't nice. I've had a few moments in the past few years where I really did not know if what was happening was actually happening because it was so terrible.
