Mortality is at about 15% for the elderly and I have an elderly relative that i care about as do many others, yes it's mortality rate is much lower for the young but still worse than the flu (these figures don't account for the mild undetected cases so it's probably a bit lower) and it is more contagious. So far the worse I have heard is that the mortality rate is 3 % which is 30 times higher than the seasonal flu mortality rate of around .1 %
I've also read that for every one person who gets the seasonal flu they infect 9 other people whereas 1 person with the c virus will infect 45 people.
