New here this week, great site for info! I'm continuing my research into methods today, going to try and eventually read all the method mega threads in the List of Resources. Finished Butanediol (no), skipped Decapitation (no way), finished the Carbon Monoxide thread last night, going to start the Exit Bag & Inert Gas mega thread today.
The CO mega thread was interesting, lots of good posts and info going back to last year. Not sure about this method, some good and some bad about it, not crossing it out totally, but....both the acid method and the charcoal method of producing CO seem messy, somewhat complicated, somewhat unreliable. Still on my list, have to think about and research it some more.
What I did notice from reading the very long CO thread was a few things, all of which I'm sure you longer-term posters already know. First, there's some great factual, researched, step-by-step info in the first part of the thread, mainly from last year. As the thread progresses, more and more people keep asking the same basic questions, questions that have already been completely and correctly answered earlier in the thread. At one point one of the most knowledgeable earlier posters finally loses his temper and basically says something like, "This has all been posted! I'm not posting it again! READ THE FRIGGIN' THREAD!" I second that thought.
Second, there seems to be a lot of unsupported conjecture, rumor posted as certainty, opinion posted as fact, truthiness confused with truth, and in general a lack of logical thinking. Oh wait, did I just describe the internet?
Finally, a couple of questions:
I noticed many posters on older threads are banned. Why?
This is probably a stupid question, but as a newbie I have to ask: the site is named Sanctioned Suicide. Yet in my limited reading so far, I rarely see people actually use the word suicide. Plenty of euphemisms (ctb, etc.) but rarely the word. Why?
