I read about this at the time. It was said he was primarily kept alive because they wanted to test procedures on him.

I think some pro-lifers would agree that in cases such as this the patient should have been allowed to die much sooner.

well...from what i could read about this has nothing to do with pro life
he was put in a medical induced coma and used for medical research, the doctors knew recovery was impossible, so they test new procedures and stuff because its virtually impossible to research about how the body reacts to radiation nowadays and that was a golden opportunity

the main factor for no grant him immediate death were because his parents were rural people and japanese, who obey blindly on the doctors and society, if society may gain something with his condition they will obey

just like in US and in some parts in Europe where someone with a phd in an important field is worshiped almost as a god by the sheep who obeys to everything
