I am a volunteer litter picker and I must say I do hate it. What people forget is that litter doesn't stay where it is. The wind blows it around, it gets stuck on trees, bushes, street signs etc.
Often, I look in a bush to pull out some stray litter and there are animals (wild aswell as cats etc) sitting among it. It attracts rats and imagine if nobody used bins and just chucked everything on the floor. We'd just be wading about in the stuff.
It didn't used to be so bad, but single use plastics have changed the game.
Admittedly, some of them are vital and literally save lives, but we need to consider the actual scale of it, if absolutely nobody gives a shit!
