  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at admin@sanctioned-suicide.net.

I think many of the less empathic/less neurotic types of people have no concept of loss. Meaning they don't have any ability to imagine what's it like to get severely ill/disabled and lose everything they have and then some. They never take the time to imagine what it would be like to lose control, because they think that's never going to happen to them, and because they don't give a shit about the people who are suffering in the present. Most people simply aren't prepared in any way.

There seems to be a connection between ones capability for emotional empathy, and general sensitiveness. Less sensitive people are worse when it comes to recognizing threats. So they don't care, or really even see the possibility of, for example, getting a stroke due to a unhealthy lifestyle and ending up in a wheelchair unable to even kill yourself for decades before finally withering away.

In my opinion this is a big reason why the world is like it is, why euthanasia and assisted suicide are less widespread. People in general are simply too unempathic and arrogant, right to the point where they are the ones dying slowly and painfully. And at that point nobody gives a fuck about what they have to say about anything anymore.

Most people only care when it affects them. It's sad but true. The biggest opponent of Euthanasia becomes the biggest advocate once their bedridden and can't enjoy any previous aspect of life.

I haven't even touched religion which is another animal altogether.

I agree with you on that. People can't comprehend pain like mental illnesses until they are in the situation themselves. Unfortunately it will be a long time until euthanization will be legal everywhere... I wish it'd be different

You say it eloquently, absolutely agree. The arrogance in this world is mindblowing. I do believe that empathic sensative people suffer on many levels but they also feel enriched too. The PEOPLE you refer to will suffer tremendously when death comes.for them. Their failure to accept life's impermanence and inability to take their material wealth onwards.

I agree with what you are saying. I do believe that many people are very selfish. I wish that we lived in a world where euthanasia is legalised, no one should have to resort to risky methods and it is cruel how the society denies people the option of a peaceful exit. We will all die eventually after all and life is completely meaningless. Anyone could end up in the worst pain possible, as we live in a world with unlimited potential for suffering. It is sad how unfair life really is.

That's the thing though, it does affect them, in the end it affects everyone. And the end could be right behind the next corner you take.

People not realizing this and reacting accordingly is just plain arrogance.

I don't really think religion is to blame when it comes to anything. The importance of religion in a society is just a indicator of the overall ignorance and insincerity of its members.

You're saying religion has no influence on why Euthanasia isn't widely accepted?

Blaming religion is shortsighted. Its people who keep religion alive. It has no power in itself.

People doing bad stuff because of religion is just people doing bad stuff. They will take any excuse that works.

You made absolutely no sense. Euthanasia isn't accepted for what reason? You still haven't answered the question. Just talking in circles.
