Hi all
I have a couple of questions on using prescription antiemetics with SN:
1. Does anyone have any experience of combining prescription antiemetics for use with SN?
The PPH recommends 3x10mg of Metoclopramide (Maxolon) for the standard SN method, and 20mg Meto combined with 8mg of Ondansetron (Zofran) for the "5 drug mix" method.
I'm guessing that the combination of the two would be preferred? As the PPH says:
"There are two recommended anti-emetics drugs that should be taken together: Meto and Ondansetron. ...". And explains how the Ondansetron compliments the Meto.
2. Does anyone have any experience of taking these and the side effects of either of them?
I have both Meto and Ondansetron (turns out was v.easy to get via online pharmacies here in the UK).
I tried a normal dose of each separately, 10mg Meto and 4mg Ondansetron:
The Meto make a little edgy/shaky, anxious perhaps, and I think drowsy. I drink alcohol (and will if/when I CTB) and this is one of things the advice says not to mix with Meto, as it can knock you out badly and you may have trouble waking up (and what's the problem lol). Can't see any mention of actual coma or long term damage from this though. I'm just worried that if I take a large dose of Meto on top of alcohol it will knock me out before I get to the SN, and just then have the fallout of an OD of Meto/alcohol to deal with instead.
The Ondansetron gave me a mild headache but nothing serious.
So I think I'm gonna go with the 20mg Meto and 8mg Ondansetron combined.
3. Domperidone
I don't have but could probably also get Domperidone (Motilium).
Does anyone have any experience of taking this? side effects, etc.
I won't bother sourcing it unless it's notably preferred to Meto or Ondansetron for any reason. It seems to be similar to Meto in its effect? Perhaps more alcohol friendly? Idk.
Any recommendations for any other AE's? (available in UK, prescription-only is probably Ok).
I know the advice about not mixing alcohol with SN and AE's, it's a risk I am going to have to take.
Thanks a lot
