I recall reading a medical study that stated that a leaf blower achieved the highest level of CO in a garage.
@azdertex1598, you absolutely need to research this. Charcoal isn't the only way to achieve high levels of CO, and it's easy to mess up and/or to endanger nearby people and animals.
Please study the method, and be careful.

I'm not 100% sure but I think you want to aim towards 10,000 ppm so you pass out quickly to avoid severe headache and throwing up. You can check the megathread for CO it has a lot of information.
I think 12 000 ppm is now recommended to make one unconscious instantly and leave to afterlife in 1-3min. But I bet 10000 ppm would knock one out in seconds too.
12000 ppm of CO is certain (if one is alone for 1-3min) and painless way. CO is seen as painless as Nembutal by vets. Animals have no stress hormones in their blood when euthanized with CO and it's used nowadays more with farm animals too. There are videos in YouTube about it.
Exit recommends to use CO meter that can measure up to 10 000 ppm to be sure that the CO level is high enough. Many have failed with coals. I knew only one person here who got 12 000 ppm with coals. He said he used 4kg coals to 2 seated pick up truck (about 1,5 square meters) in his test with CO meter. Then he left this site and world likely.

That is why people have died just when plugging it outside. Cars without CAT had about 45 000ppm of CO in their exhaust.
In closed space generator may slow down when there is about 13 000 ppm of CO and eventually they all shut down from lack of air which is normal.
In future there will likely be CATs (catalytic converters) in all generators. In USA some generators with CATs are already sold but many choose the gens without it. Some people have said here in other threads that there are also some generators sold in USA that shut down when there is too much CO.
When buying generator it's also good to ask how it works (I got wrong user's guide with my gen) and buy the right oil and gasoline from the same store. Gasoline for generators etc. is cleaner than gasoline for cars and it makes less smoke.
Some generators have clutch that you have to move to right position before starting it. Otherwise little part (circuit breaker?) inside the generator will burn and it will shut down and won't start again. You would have to replace it with the new one.
In some countries people may buy welding gases which have at least 1% CO in it. I think that Nitrogen is quite freely sold also. Pure 100% Helium is sold in few European countries too.

Be sure not to accidentally ctb the family or neighbors which happens quite a bit based on a lot of news stories I've read. The gas goes through ceilings and walls easily.
