I went and bought a portable generator, started it and woke up 24 hours later. Do portable generators not produce enough CO? Like they used to??
How do you find that out? I bought an orange generac brand. It's was the smallest one the store sold and that I'd be able to lift.

Newer models will shut themselves off if the CO level in the air they take in gets too high.

This is one of those times where it's better to look for older equipment at a boot/yard/garage sale.

Yes I read the same thing. The newer generators have a form of scrubbers like cars have a catalytic converter.

Stanley generators (and I bet many others) have clutch that you have to move to right position before starting the generator. Otherwise small part (circuit breaker?) will burn and it will shut down and won't start again.
