Is anyone on here because of GERD?

I was depressed and hopeless before....but then, just as covid hit, i developed LPR/GERD which has gotten worse and worse. I dont know if this is the right forum to chat about this but my already shit life is absolute destroyed now. Unable to eat most things, unable to ever feel full, unable to sleep and utterly done with life. Have never been this suicidal before and it scares the shit out of me, but i cant carry on. Any fellow sufferers that have this nasty disorder?

lots of love to everyone.

Thats great you are getting surgery. I haven't even had an endoscopy yet cos of covid. I may have a hernia..dunno. I just cant take eating these micro bland meals that still cause me to reflux!! The Antidepressants make me really hungry all the time and just Everything seems to make it worse. Getting worse by the week. Are you able to eat normally or do you have to do the acid-watcher postage stamp sized food?

I have GERD and LPR. Thankfully I've had some luck curing it. It comes back every now and then, but it doesn't make me want to CTB. I'm sorry your case is so severe, I can totally understand how bad this disease can be. Heck any chronic disease is pure torture. I hope you can find some relief soon!

It's not my primary reason for being here but I have EERD, a hiatal hernia, the dreaded water brash and IBS. Fun! No matter what I eat, something in there doesn't like it.

i went private cus nhs is fucking wank....i swear it gave me an uncontrollable anxiety disorder as my brain knows something isnt right, i can eat normally ish but i have constant gut pain and a motility disorder so it can take a whilst to go down.... before my hernia i was an athlete with perfect health... doctors arte fucking retarded and deeply ignorant, their training just has a mechanical model for hernias ie all that matters is reflux!! lets ignore that its the most nerve dense part of the body full of neuro transmitters..

Any chronic illness that causes physical pain is just wretched. That's exponentially worse when the pain is severe. Sorry if this is condescending but just in case your doctor is a moron, I hope you've tried daily proton pump inhibitors. I developed bad GERD-like symptoms when I was taking oral corticosteroids and the PPIs really helped.

i am but it also caused motility probs so my throat can take a whilst, get checked for a hernia and if you have one dont listen to a fucking word that those retards feed you and demand the operation. i was a strong athlete who got hernia and then got iller and iller every week since and am now riddled with an uncontrollable anxiety disorder that started as a result, my brain just wont let it rest and knows something is up autonomically, doctors oblivious as fuck as usual but i found some american specialists who fully understand the holistic view of hiatal hernia and arent retarded enough to think the most dense nerve area in the body is only gonna cause "acid reflux"

I'm sorry for the pain your condition has caused you. Myself, I don't have that. But I'm getting my spine x-rayed for osteoperosis this week and my blood checked in a month to make sure my ovaries haven't up and died on me (pretty sure they have and I'm only 30). But I feel a strong sense of kinsmanship with anyone with chronic illness. It's so easy to take your health for granted until you lose it.

Thanks, yea. Am on PPI's. Started off with LPR, which has calmed down a bit due to either/and dietry change, nasal steroid spray, PPIS, but now i have chronic heartburn as well. Im sure that is the lanzoprazole (ppi) that caused that. my version seems to be the hardest to cure. This is why i am on here. Horrid.

"Im sure that is the lanzoprazole (ppi) "

Its meant to stop that but when you stop it can bounce back hard. I honestly think you should get an endoscopy or barium swallow to rule out hernia.

I agree with @ceelo Ask your GP for a referral to a GI consultant who will probably do an endoscopy and other investigations on you

and if you're UK go private so you can be seen in a week or two because the nhs is complete shite and waiting will be many months maybe even a year
