When it reaches 500, everything will change. The creator of the campaign will become proud that they managed to send so much messages to their friends on facebook and will try to jump higher reaching 1000. Maybe they will reach 1000 but once the daily increase of signed petitions will nullify or go lower and they will understand that they spent so much time in vain. Realizing that all your work was in vain is very painful and depressing so the feeling of "almightiness" will be replaced by sadness of failure. Change.org is not a referendum, not an authority and does absolutely nothing. If somebody finds it perspective, then they would better take the rubbish out of their house and change their own lives. This very moment thousands of kids in hospitals are dying, millions are starving and those who run this petition choose to create a petition to make a dramatic change in the world blocking the website. Such a democracy abuse.

@faust said it perfectly.

I would add that the more signatures they have, the more "right" each of them feels.

It feels damn good when humans think they're right.

For every 500 signatures, their arms grow longer to make it easier to pat themselves on the back, and they grow a millimeter taller, so that one day, if they all sign hard enough, they'll be bigger than us monsters.

Change.org is what happens when people can't form mobs and run people out with torches.

Change.org would have inadvertently saved the lives of the Salem "witches" had it been around then, because Change.org doesn't do shit.

In the era of socialism if you wanted to change the world, you would work in a mine or a factory to become a part of economic growth and change the economy.
In the era of Ford if you wanted to change the world, you would struggle until death in doing what you want.
In the era of hippies if you wanted to change the world, you would start from yourself and share love, freedom with others
In the era of internet creation if you wanted to change the world, you would sell a car and start your project in a garage
In the era of likes and reposts if you want to change the world, you click on like, then repost and think that something has just happened.

We should get some 'well done, you tried' cards printed for them. There is only one thing this petition says to me: lack of education and ignorance to a bigger picture.

Need 100,000 signatures just to get a mention in parliament I think, and even then they're usually to a crowd of 2 people before swiftly being moved on.

I could get 350 people to sign a petition on banning dunking biscuits into tea, in about half an hour. Nothing to worry about honestly.

And I'll counteract that you stop using the plural tense for verbs with collective singular nouns!

Seriously though,.

Are you really besmirching an Englishman on English grammar on a website at 3am? Are you perhaps German descended? Circa 1934-1945? ;)

They'll create a tear in the space time continuum then subsequently be sucked into it.

They probably won't achieve anything significant, but they will make the site slightly more popular, and it works both ways, more people will be glad that they found a place they were looking for a long time but there will be more people wanting to shut it down.
One day, they will eventually win. Then, in a new site, somewhere, a new community will start and the cycle continues...

Nothing. Those petitions don't do much. But fuck those people, man. Can't we have a safe space to talk and get help? Can't we be left alone? It's funny how no one mentions or wants to shut down racist forums but make a fuss about this one "waaaahhh u can't be smarter than us and choose to actively end ur life and meet like minded people ur a threat for humanity we'll go extinct"

That sounds more like a plan C. :blarg:

The big FB group event several months ago, we didn't exactly cover ourselves in glory there, but it did illustrate that their campaign is going nowhere. It's sad that there is no understanding or common ground, that views have to be so ignorantly opposed.
But... All it takes is another high profile case and media involvement and the shitshow starts all over again.

The father (step father?) actually sounded quite reasonable in private messages with a member from here. I feel for the family; it's hard to be understanding when you have grief, anger and guilt to fight through.
I think we have a duty to ourselves to at least listen, if not to try and be better. I think that goes for everyone, us and them. It usually seems to lead to failure when met with ignorance and that's very sad, but it in no way diminishes the value of the impetus to try and understand.

"Forced lifers" I like that phrase it is way more accurate than pro-lifers because that just sounds like people prefer life over death and sounds more positive but what they really are is in fact 'forced lifers' they force others to live even some forcing with physical violence like when people get "involuntary comitted" which is just an euphemism for legalized kidnapping.

These forced lifers also do it to people who are trying to starve themselves to death they will force feed them with a tube to make them stay alive it´s actually insane to what lenghts they will go to, to make people stay alive my body my choice only goes so far apparently..

@CtrlAltFace, could you give some more information about the petition? Just a screenshot may initiate fear reactions when this could be an old petition, or one without any clear action goals.

What date was the petition started?

Who started it?

What were the dates of the most recent signatures?

What is the intro text of the petition? Does it outline any kind of plan, or is it to just to say, "Those who sign the petition want the site shut down" ?
