Don't do it, you could make somebody suffer. Save up money instead. Jail time probably depends on the amount of money, but it's just a bad idea to make somebody else suffer imo. They could become suicidal and its just an endless circle of suffering.

There are other ways to get money. After saving, you could take out a loan (from the wealthiest creditor you can find), or sell some property you don't use anymore. I don't see a problem in ripping off some faceless company if they're wealthy enough tbh, they have accountants for that, but another regular person is just as innocent and in need, and its not possible to judge whether another person you can't possibly know what their life is like whether they deserve their money more than you or not.

When you catfish someone, you're not just taking their money, you're taking their time, happiness and dreams away too and breaking them.
