I wanted to test fainting by squeezing the cartoid Artery. So I squeezed my cartoid arteries as tight as possible!

But.... nothing happened. No dark vision, nothing changed.

Any ideas why this failed so badly?

Incorrect placement of hand. Make sure you are pressing where they are supposed to be.

I'm assuming your considering partial hanging. Someone posted test results here using a string not in a knot but just tied around the neck. Play around and find the right spot. When you find it and apply pressure, you should start to fade. Your hands will give and the pressure will relieve, blood goes back to your brain.

If you feel your head exploding from the pressure you aren't pressing enough to fully compress or you're on your jugular veins. From what I understand they are millimetres apart.

Wow that's some detailed information, thank you

Another question: is it dangerous to test passing out by squeezing the artery? I mean... by doing that, you interrupt the blood flow to your brain. Isnt it dangerous to interrupt blood flow to your brain? Can it cause long-term damage?

No, Its not like you interrupt it for too long, as long as you make yourself pass out you'll wake up unscathed since as soon as you fall unconscious you release the pressure on your neck.. since it's impossible to choke yourself with your own hands when your not conciously doing it..

And how long will you be unconscious? About a few seconds?

You cannot pass out by compressing your carotid arteries by hand. Your body will go limp for a few seconds, but even then your muscles will remain somewhat tense. I did it countless times, even a few times during shower and didn't collapse once - just sliding towards the wall.
10 seconds of interrupted blood flow wont cause permanent damage, but if you do it three or more times a day you will get a light headache.
