I know that modern cars dont emit enough CO or any toxic gases to actually kill you, and that is due to the Catalytic Convertor in the car which converts many of those gases into gases more available in the environment and generally safer, Including CO to CO2
I have a sports car which is modified for sound and performance needs, meaning my Stock cat that comes with the car and reduces emissions is actually replaced with a downpipe that is catless ("Catalytic Converter - Less"?)
According to my research and an attempt using this method so far,
Typical CO concentration from exhaust for Pre 1975 cars :
30k-70k PPM aka 3-7% CO by volume
And now in modern cars it has gone wayy less to even 500-1k ppm on a warm idle engine. Far from what is needed to successfully kill you.
According to ChatGPT , my cars set up should be emitting between 5k-30k PPM, but I do not trust these numbers at all and besides that the range is very broad, so I plan on buying one of those CO detectors but unfortunately most of them read up to 9999 PPM only.
When I attempted this method, I was planning on using a normal adult Oxygen mask bought from a medical supplies store, and taping it to my exhaust tip from inside, and putting it on. But due to the location I tried it at I was worried of passerbys seeing me or even worse saving me if I successfully pass out. So I just thought laying down next to it and breathing will do the job, turns out not and ended up with just teary eyes and sore throat and stomach pain.
So theoritically if I were to find a for example rental place with a OUTDOOR garage that I can rent, (Outdoor as in in open air, but still on villa property so no one can save or see, just how most garages are where i live.) and use the oxygen mask attached to the exhaust and get to relax via Xanax and Alcohol, would this method be successful ? What complications may I face? Could the exhaust heat melt the medical tubing of the standard adult Oxygen mask?
