Discussion Capitalism is the cause of the depression

Alejandro Cao de Benos is a Spanish communist and the only North Korean representative to the West, he strongly defends the Kim Jong-un regime and often streams on Twitch.

I was recently in one of his streamings, there he answers questions about politics, communism, how to live in North Korea and often answers personal advice questions, so out of curiosity I asked him for advice and told him that I was depressed and didn't know what to do with my life, and he replied that it was the fault of capitalism and that I should do things and go on a trip around the world or start collecting stamps.



At minute 51:19 is the answer he told me

Well I can imagine if someone in North Korea somehow got unfiltered access to the internet and subsequently navigated to this guys stream and asked him "why he was depressed?" It certainly wouldn't be capitalism, it could have something to do with the lack of political and individual freedom, the poor quality of life, etc.

Would he then suggest they go travel around the world? I don't think that is an option for North Koreans

Eh, part of my depression is caused by generational trauma from my family having to escape from Communist China to Taiwan. My great grandfather was even compelled to kill himself when the CCP seized his farm that had been in my family for hundreds of years.

This ultimately led to my dad being born in and growing up in absolute squalor down in rural Taiwan. This upbringing also subsequently led him to be a huge piece of shit with no empathy which makes for being a terrible father. It is for this reason that I will never see communism as a good thing since no matter how nice it may seem or how horrible capitalism gets, communism requires the same amount of ruthlessness if not more so just to get off the ground.
