Hey,

Does anyone know how to make self-immolation a sure method to ctb?

I really want to die that way, but death needs to be granted.
Has anyone an idea which flammable liquid would be the best to use?

I know it will be really, really painful. I've got a lot of burning scars from playing with the fire of candles, and I'm sure, this will be my way to ctb for emotional reason.

My dad tried to do this, he doused himself in petrol and lit it. I think as soon as he was on fire he realised he had made a terrible mistake and rushed to a basin to try and put it out. He spent a decent while in hospital and still has significant scarring to his upper body and arms (fortunately not face). Not recommended

There is that famous protester who sat cross-legged and dosed himself on fire. You could probably look him up and see what kind of accelerate he used.

Not much, no. It was about 20 years ago now. He's still here.

Why though? If you are willing to put yourself through possibly the most unimaginable excruciating pain known to man, why not settle for something less painful? I'll never understand why people glamorize self immolation.

Unless you're a buddhist monk, you'll regret setting yourself on fire and then realizing this was a bad idea and try to put yourself out. Then it's the years of skin grafts, and if you're lucky, you'll expire from a bacterial infection. Playing with candles or lighters is nothing compared to burning yourself for what seems like an eternity.

I don't think there are many ways to make yourself suffer more. You don't deserve anymore pain. I think you should attempt another method.

is a bit difficult to die in this way because the liquid should burn for a few minutes and you do not really have that certainty, and you can survive.

Ok here's the science: gasoline in liquid form can't combust it can burn only if sprayed into very fine drops within an Air Fuel Ratio in mass between 5 to 20 (approximated).

Here's the thing: gasoline generates alot of fumes which will in fact combust very easily near a hot source (fire, spark etc...,). BUT the combustion won't be fast, only the outher layers of the fumes of the gasoline will burn progressively, in other words you will have more than enough time to regret it, by that time you'll be between medium and well-done.
Unless you're near water or sand you won't be able to stop the cooking process.

Hope you can see more clearly what's the cost of trying to burn yourself to death. And yes there are less painful methods available.

I want to burn for emotional, you can say religious reasons. Not today, not tomorrow, but it will be my way, as @Dark Soul said. I know it will be the most painful thing I'll ever experience, but I think it will be worth it. I know I'll regret it as soon as the flames will be reaching for me, but I am willingly to do it though. I want to sacrifice myself. I know it won't make a difference, but it feels right to do so.

Cutting wrists is 71%, thats just the pain of this x 1,5, and cutting wrists doesn't hurt that much. I did it, and well... it's not THAT painful. I think I could endure this.

@Xerxes I have an open wound of this candle, degree 2b. It can't really hurt more than this, because at degree 3, the ends of the nerve endings are burned.

Cutting wrists is 71%, thats just the pain of this x 1,5, and cutting wrists doesn't hurt that much. I did it, and well... it's not THAT painful. I think I could endure this.

not only is it extremeful painful but also not as lethal as other methods

choosing this method is not rational


but i consider this thread and the thoughts of burning more of a fantasy of some people than an actual plan anyways

pain is the prize to pay for freedom of the soul :)

if you look it that way - it's not different from cutting or something else, just other dimensions. there are lots of different reasons and motivations to ctb, I wanna hurt myself too :D but burning may not be my first choice even if it sounds kinda lovely...I'd like to fall down from the stratosphere on sedatives + N, maybe even higher so that I'm burning to ashes like a shooting star, in hope that someone sees me in the night sky :) lol

If you want to go by fire how about taking inspiration from the middle ages: burning at the stake is allegedly not that painful because you'll go unconscious from the smoke quickly. Definitely better than just dousing yourself in gasoline..
