Im not sure if its just me overreacting or what. Even when im not overwhelmed or stressed out, its super easy to set me off to having a mental breakdown. The slightest problem leads me to yelling like a maniac and slamming my head against the walls. I dont know if these are signs of bpd or if im just fucking crazy.

Maybe it's a little bit of both, BPD can sure look like 'crazy' to some people, including ourselves.

our brains are almost hardwired to react to things, good or bad, in a way that we are taught is definitely an overreaction. so what follows is guilt, confusion and shame for having reacted in a way that wider society tells us qualifies as an overreaction

i hope you get the answers you're looking for about this sorta stuff

It sounds like emotional dysregulation, which shows up in BPD, but it also shows up in trauma, anxiety disorders, autism, ADHD, and a bunch of other things.

I experience this periodically when I'm slightly triggered by someone or myself. When it comes to BPD, the breakdowns aren't always tied to stress you can see coming. Sometimes your nervous system is already at a 9 and the smallest thing tips it into a 10. The rage, the yelling, the self-directed stuff, that's usually not about the situation at all. It's your brain going into threat mode and dumping everything at once.
You're dealing with a nervous system that's on fire. Even if it's not something that has a label on it yet it's best to find a way to calm yourself in those moments so you accidentally hurt yourself or anyone else.
