Discussion Body modifications

Just some light hearted off topic discussion for members who want to participate. I'm all about expressing our individuality and uniqueness so I'm wondering who else some cool body mods.

I'll start. I have 6 + 9 tattoos so far (9 are individual tattoos that are making up a full sleeve on my right arm) and I also have a nose ring and in the process of gauging my ears. I'm currently at a 5g but will be stretching to a 4g hopefully tonight if all goes well. My goal is either a 0 or 00.

Also I'd like to add that I won't tolerate any hateful or derogatory comments on this thread. We are all entitled to our own views, but I want this to be a fun post and there is definitely ways to express your views without putting others down for their choices. Any comments that are hurtful or outright mean will be reported. I want this to be an enjoyable thread for everyone!

I don't have any body modifications and do not plan getting any.
I don't wear any brand clothes, any kind of merch or anything that could somehow represent some specific views/interests, something that could lead people to classify me as someone belonging to this or that movement. I don't like attention and try to be as invisible as possible in public.
Though in my teenage years I used to wear different black metal merch and had long hair. Now I find it simply childish.

Are you going to put a hollow ring into it or something solid? Also, do what do your tattoos show, if you are comfortable to share in general terms?

Not yet, but I always wanted a tattoo or more, not necessarily big, but something that signifies who I am and what I went through.

I like both for the gauges. Currently I've been sporting opalescent glass in them as I've been sizing up and I really like them. But I think once I reach my goal size I will be wearing either wooden plugs or crystal plugs. I have crystals all over my house and wear them as bracelets now so I like the idea of being able to wear them in my ears. I really like the natural approach.

I have random tattoos all over my body (the 6) that don't really have significant meanings. I got most of them when I was younger. I know I will likely get backlash on my sleeve, but it's mostly cottagecore/ forest witch themed. I have things like a lunar moth, a frog on a mushroom, a raven perched on a branch, a hand holding tarot cards with the cards that mean the most to me, a bat sitting on flowers etc.

It's not finished yet. My best friend is a tattoo artist so we're working on it slowly. It will be a full colour sleeve so it's going to be a while before it's finished, if it ever is. Right now it's only black outlined and there's still some spaces we need to fill in, and some of them need touch ups on the linework before we move onto colour.

I find body piercings are okayish although when I was young my earring struck to curtain and almost tore my earlobe I avoided piercings thereafter completely. For tattoos I'm even more suspicious especially given that my skins extremely sensitive even to clorine water and the way they put it makes me scared so haven't tried . Although I'd love to get a simple ear piercing.

I also have super sensitive skin (Scottish descent= red hair and almost translucent skin I'm so pale) and I've never had any reactions to the ink in tattoos. I heard the most reactive colour is red, so as long as you stayed away from red you'd likely be fine! I have a bit of red in one of my tattoos and I had no issues with it though.

Go get an ear piercing! What's stopping you? You can always take it out if you don't like it, no?

I don't have any, I'm too scared to get any. Otherwise I would probably print the most dark/edgy/depressing shit possible all over my body and get nose/belly piercings and etc. Inside of me dark vibes is a style I'd go with no questions asked. However as of now the only "mods" I have are the remainders of medical treatments (I have a metal bar behind my lower teeth)

Never matched the "me" in my head nor my branding, but here we are, two years later, still clinging to it. The healing was short but HELL, and honestly? After surviving that, tossing it out feels like disrespecting the trauma.

I kinda want a tattoo as well, i love how you can make your own body as your canvas. But i got commitment issue. Piercing is one thing bc it can heal (if it's not too big), but tattoo? i think i need to think about the design for at lest 5 years before committing to one.

I had my tongue pierced at one time as well. I agree the healing was hell! I ended up taking it out many years ago but the hole is still there. Same with my bellybutton and nipples

i once pierced my own septum but had to take it out due to picking out jewelry that was way too small. i didn't expect to get as much swelling as i did haha

it was a thrilling experience. would do it again but being better prepared now, maybe once im hyperfixated on piercings again:)

I want my septum done but it doesn't suit my face. I also don't want to have too many piercings because then it starts to look silly. If the septum looked nice I would take out my nose piercing. I bought a tiny fake one from Temu just to see what I'd look like and I'm glad I didn't commit to the real thing.

think I only had it about 5-7 years maybe? I've never tried putting another bar in but you can visibly see where it was. It's likely closed on the inside. I don't want to find out lol

I have one tattoo and I am going to get a few more this week. The new ones will focus on my battle with all the noise in my head. Nothing extravagant, just a few simple words and an image of a headphone.

Girl you are a BADASS!! I'd love to see your tats. I absolutely love the Medusa piercing. It's so unique and I don't see that one often. Please tell me you have cool coloured hair? I feel like you would.

I have the most basic piercings hahaha earrings and belly button right now. I wanted an anti-eyebrow piercing but I don't think it would hold well on me, and I'm debating if I want an eyebrow piercing.

But I've got a bunch of sick tattoos! I've got a grizzly bear, a whale, an Oni, and an elephant on each of my ankles and I'm working on a pair of snakes on my back, Yakuza-style. The lineart hasn't been done yet but it's turning out awesome :) I've got a matching tattoo with my bestie of a tiny baby cow on our calves lol.

My family is quite left-wing and open for pretty much everything, but has always been quite conservative when it comes to body modifications. It's a generational thing I guess, back in those days (I'm talking 60 years ago) it was something so rare only criminals and junkies had them around here.

I do have two piercings in my left earlobe, got both them on a whim when I was studying abroad. The first one when I went with a friend to buy some expensive boots at a shop full of goth/metal-style stuff, I was there to support her while she made an impulse purchase and ended up doing one too. It hurt a bit, but I went drinking that same night. Then I went back to the same spot on my 30th birthday and the same friend was there by my side. And I also went drinking that night.

My mother found out eventually, just sighed and told me no tattoos. After I returned home she saw I just had the placeholder studs they give you and decided to have some new ones custom made with gold from a couple of rings she had. They're small, two little solid gold spheres along my lobe, but they'll bury me with them.

Don't know if I can really call them modifications, but it's enough for me ... tattoo of a tribal tiger above my left ankle, about 10cm and a colour phoenix on my back, right shoulder blade, about 10cm too. Normal ear piercings and a belly ring which I love.

For some reason I was expecting this would be about extreme stuff like self mutilation and transdermal implants, not innocuous stuff like tattoos and piercings. Not that I'm saying there's anything moreobjectionable about extreme body modifications, necessarily. Anyways I don't have any, was never into them.

Yes I think a lot of people assume that with the words. I did that on purpose so that anyone who might possibly have extreme mods would feel welcome as well.

For me (maybe I'm old school) anything we've put in or done to our bodies that we weren't born with would be considered a body mod.
