It's a very specific sound - but Lil Peep! He is my favorite musician ever and I listen to his stuff every day - even as I'm writing this.

He combined elements of trap beats with emo-lyrics about drug abuse and broken hearts. He isn't afraid to talk about his battle with depression and thoughts of suicide.

I recommend you give his album 'Come Over When You're Sober Pt1' a try, it is phenomenal.

Lou Reed - Perfect Day (I like the idea of my suicide being dipped in irony)

As for the song, I adore it. I love the juxtaposition of happy lyrics and gloomy music, which I think is perfect considering the song is about Lou's heroin addiction. Interesting to note Lou's views on assisted suicide; when asked in an interview what he thought about it, he said, "People should be able to choose what they want for themselves. That's what I think about it."


Nick Drake - Things Behind the Sun

Very depressive song appearing on his final album before he killed himself. I like how pessimistic he sounds, but I still often feel inspired to live while listening to it.

William Basinski - For David Robert Jones

Written as an eulogy to David Bowie, I've always thought this song does what Basinski does best: isolating a certain emotion into a composition quarter of an hour long. The song has always felt like the death of something massive, as if watching the fall of civilization, Earth or the sun before your own eyes.
