Help Benzo withdrawal - who has gone through it?

I'm on a withdrawal scheme of Xanax (replaced by Valium for slower tampering). Currently, I'm taking about 20mg of Valium per day. It used to be 40mg.

It's a hell. I cannot concentrate any minute for work as I feel restless. My head feels like it's gonna explode any moment. I feel horrible. I'm constantly wondering if I should plan to take SN or give it more time. The worst has yet to come: from 20mg, I need to get to 0, 2mg per week. And the lower the amount, the worse the withdrawal seems to be.

Who successfully managed to get off these drugs?

I'm badly addicted to benzos as I take a good amount everyday and if I don't get it in during the day I can't sleep. Im taking it to deal with all the anxiety a chronic health condition causes, but know that Im gonna be in detox sooner rather than later. You already made a great reduction so I would keep going but they are the absolute worst to get off of and this was told to me coming from an ex heroine addict.

Nightmare, you go crazy, it feels like every part of you is broken for good. I was totally incapacitated during my withdrawal, i lost the ability to walk without shaking wildly, no idea how you're working right now.

But after a few months off it every part of you grows back. You've come this far so you might as well finish the taper.

Hi, I've gone through benzo withdrawel many times.

Im on clornazapam. Been on it for 3 yrs now.

Started & tapered from like 10 mg to 6mg.

Then from 6mg to 0.5mg in like 2 months.
(Last taper in 2019)

It was kinda easy for me bc SO MUCH was going on at the time and it guess I was kinda new to me???

Now tho I get the withdrawal feels sooo hardcore and im at such a low dose...

If i don't have my meds for a day I feel sick/can't eat.

I'm also on gabapentin tho and that has horrible withdrawal. I think its worse than benzos tbh...

Sooo yee these days I try not to miss a day but sometimes I take more than my daily dose bc of well everything that was going on....

I've used kava kava (can be brought in capsule or tea/powder form) I liked it.

Making sure ur body is at the right levels of vitamins,minerals and all that- are ok helps.

I was lucky, I went onto diazepam and it had no effect and when I came off it there was no withdrawal symptoms.

worst experience of my life, probably on a par with opiate withdrawal if not worse.

tbh your dr shud have given your something super long acting. like Librium for example. if u are feeling the withdrawal the taper is too fast!!!!! u shud not be sick on tapers, unless u intend on a fast detox or some thing

That's part of the issue. Next to benzo's, I'm also on Pregabaline (very similar to gabapentine). Except for a few days of discomfort (stomach issues) physical withdrawal of this is quite okay for me.

However, they really help somewhat lower my symptoms and it gives you me a certain high, making this a mostly psychological addiction and cannot resist taking them, while the benzo's is mostly a medical addiction (I HATE taking them, but without them I cannot function).

I was addicted to zopiclones and tramadol,zapain, codiene etc for a few years ate them like sweets I couldn't cope with the withdrawals so went opposite and started doing cocaine regularly now I'm on a daily habit so I'm no help just a fuck up

Had to quit klonopin cold turkey... psychiatrist at the facility I was going to just decided I should be on antidepressants instead (which I fiercely rejected) and gave me no further prescription to wean off of the benzos. Fucking vile honestly. Ended up not taking my daily prescribed dose of what I had left and went on a rage/disappointment induced bender mixing my drugs with copious amounts of alcohol. It's always nice when professionals give you the option of miserable outcome 1 or miserable outcome 2!

I'm on 3mg clonazepam a day and I think I've built a tolerance but the natural symptoms (akathesia) I have without it are too much so I can't go off it, plus I think withdrawing makes the natural symptoms worse. There's basically nothing else that has helped my severe akathesia. I tried going off zopiclone and 1mg clonazepam in 2019 and i got severe akathesia and insomnia (1-2 hrs a day for a month)

Are you sure this was really Valium! Because everyone falls aslep when they take 5mg Valium for the first time.
