What a friend. Calling the police and 911 on you. Like if the hospital is going to help you. She has no idea of the harm she has done to her friend.

The way the midia reported it's horrible. You are not a hero for calling 911 and the police.

That's the end of the friendship and a nearly guaranteed CTB attempt whenever they get released. Everyone wants to play the hero. I blame superhero movies, time to ban them (sarcasm).

Some 'friend' A real friend would've called, tried to of gotten to the friend, sure tried to of talked them out of it because people feel guilty if they don't do something... other than that, exactly what @Brick In The Wall said, basically the end of the friendship and practically guarenteed ctb attempt once out... and next time it'll be rushed, and without telling anyone!

You never call the police/911 to save a suicidal person... that's just going to make it worse

I read the article and yeah, it's quite disgusting, no one should "force" someone to live against their will, especially involuntary force and treatment! :angry::hmph: Yeah, if I was her, I cut all communication with that bitch and never associate with her again, then I would make sure that I succeed in the future, whatever it takes. Fortunately, when I was in a teenager, I never mentioned anything about suicide for fear of what could happen to me, and back then my mindset was rather different than at age 29. Finally, of course, the god awful obligatory suicide prevention number and website about suicide risk factors. :ehh::eh:;-;

They don't even know if her friend is going to be okay, they just shrug it off as a good thing that they got "help". Instead, the girl is praised. The pro-life mindset is disgusting – I long for the day when people start to respect everyone's right to die. And then Mr Harran. "Suicide rates would decrease overnight blah blah blah". Ridiculous.

EDIT: hyphen

It is absolutely disgusting how whole society just praises her for this. Media just shrugged off the whole problem of suicidal girl, and just glorified the act of ,,helping". I wouldn't blame that 13 years old girl too much for doing this as at this age she may not realize how much wrong calling 911 on suicidal person might be. However I bet this girl did it to be called ,,hero" by other people, not because she actually cares about her friend. If she actually cared about her friend she would talked with her not call Police! It's sad as she just blindly follows society definition of right and wrong, and doesn't have that own sense of morality. Society needs to learn to respect other people freedom. Its unacceptable how most people see calling police on someone and locking someone in mental hospital against their will, as something to be praised for.

Regardless of what the news say suicide rates will increase over time. A lot of the times people act on their emotions. The person who got "helped" will eventually find another way out.

No wonder people don't trust the media anymore. They are disgusting and manipulative.

Honestly, Media always had been full of propaganda ever since its humble beginning. They support most popular opinion (that is usually opinion of governement or that of most powerful and influential people) only because they want to profit from it. They go as far to manipulate others just to impose that view on everyone. Only nowadays people became more aware of this so they stopped trusting them.

To be honest, if you texted someone telling them you going to kill yourself, specially if you're a teen, maybe you're going through a distress phase and looking for help. Moreover, telling someone that you're thinking about suicide, putting them in a difficult situation. Did she really expect her friend to not call 911. This is a lesson for her. Next time, if she is serious, she should put some thought in it and just do it. Don't text anyone.
