• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

• political wasteland ruled by horrible conservative pedophile oligarchs

• very little social support, and a significantly large part of us commit suicide as a result

• very difficult to find a job, and even if possible, one must work several to pay for even a 200 sq ft apartment in a bad part of a wasteland city

• prescriptions and health"care" are astronomically expensive and worse than many third-world shitholes

• zero support for any and all mental health issues, and if there is it's either A) also astronomically expensive. Or B) the same dogmatic phrases repeated ad nauseam

• incredibly difficult to leave the country. One must have a job lined up for them, which is next to impossible. And you still have to pay American taxes if you don't rescind your citizenship. Also most of us are monolingual which severely limits the number of countries we can even *think* of fleeing to. Also nobody will accept American refugees due to covid and our horrible mismanagement of covid procedures

• alcoholism, suicide, and heroin use are the only fallbacks, as dating is impossible even within niche kinky communities and making friends is only possible if one is very attractive (I sure ain't)

anyone else got more reasons?

I'm sorry you guys have to deal with such a shit healthcare system. I can't imagine living in a country where you could go bankrupt due to medical bills.

I live in Canada, which is supposed to be this magical progressive wonderland where everyone is taken care of. It's not, this health care system is what ruined me. They put me on medications right away instead of considering therapy/discussion. And the therapists I did meet with were completely incompetent. The medications have ruined my brain and body to the point where I can't function daily.

You're screwed either way. There's a certain kind of person meant to make it in today's world, they are eliminating the bad genes. I have no problem leaving the world, just let me fucking go instead of having to suffer.

Things aren't much better in the UK.

Ok, we supposedly have a wonderful 'free' healthcare system (nhs) for all, funded by taxes, but waiting times are incredibly long, the mental health branch of the service is poorly funded and poorly managed and doesn't offer anything like enough support (brain-altering psych drugs and a bit of 'talking therapy'?), and anyone with the financial means goes private anyway (which tells you everything).

So even though the UK's welfare state is slightly better than the US's (well, the US doesn't even really have a welfare state), pretty much all the things you listed apply to the UK as well when it comes to looking after and helping people with mental difficulties.

It could also be the case that these pitiless, capitalistic dog-eat-dog societies actually cause a lot of mental illness/distress, and people then only see a way out through drink/drugs or suicide. So it's more reasonable to call the societies themselves ill, not the individuals abandoned by it. The mental distress of individuals that results is not 'illness' but actually a rational psychological response to a ruthlessly uncaring system.

I agree with all your points. Being born a mentally or physically ill (woman too) or any person in America is horrible. The ironic thing is I can get tons of stuff to kill myself with in this country but not one ounce of help without going in debt. The for profit healthcare system and insurance being tied to a job is asinine but set up this way intentionally....after all it's "for profit". We don't get treated good or have competent Drs, all drs do is push antidepressants and meds that ruined me and big pharma pays them to do it, we have to wait months to see a Dr here and also pay 600-700 out of pocket to see a specialist. Therapy is $100 a week....it's a joke.

People say "go to therapy"....I say "I can't afford it I have no insurance".... They say "ok get a job and get insurance"... I say "I can't work because of my mental and physical issues"....facepalm

In America the land of the "free" our choices are suffer, go in debt or die.

"political wasteland ruled by horrible conservative pedophile oligarchs"....yep spot on with this one.
