Has anybody considered this option? It would be a completely different way of life, with lots of meditation and reflection. You would have to strive to get rid of desire and reach Enlightment. I consider it a form of death on its own, like a rejection of normal life.

However, I doubt it's that easy. You probably have to learn and accept the teachings of Buddha and truly believe them if that's the path forward.

Thoughts?

I considered it at one point years ago. There's even a monastery close to me. But things came up in my life that prevented me from pursuing it.

I considered it a while back, it would be nice to renounce all Earthly possessions and identity. I wouldn't know how to renounce my depression though.

Considered it too and I've dabbled with buddhism (and it helped a lot), but even the prefrontal cortex can be overwhelmed if the adversity/hopelessness is too big.
