Not sure if you've heard of the official name of this logical fallacy but you've most likely come across statements like "There are millions of people in the same situation or worse than you who don't want to kill themselves". It's the worst expression of herd mentality in humans. It doesn't just prop up when people are discussing suicide but many situations and is probably where the fallacy of relative privation/starving african children argument crops up.

That's just it for many people...I should live just because some other humans who have nothing whatsoever to do with me are alive as well. Fuck anyone to death who says this shit.

This is ironically makes me want to ctb even more.

The thing about people in actual hardship and in a fight for survival situation is that they're to busy actually fighting for their survival, which we humans as animals are also meant to be doing. The developed western civilized world is not natural for us the animals, humans.

I'm glad you made this thread, I've been waiting for someone to call out the guilt trip that pro-lifers use and their stupid fallacies arguments. Mostly, it's the religious and sanctimonious pricks who use those lines. Yes fuck those people who do that to guilt and shame others' out of suicide.

This actually makes a lot of sense. Humans, especially from millions of years ago developed this survival instinct to help them survive through time and hardship. Furthermore, humans back then wanted to live and didn't really have the problems that we did today. While things were much less technologically developed, values are different, and what not, they had different problems than we did today. Nowadays, we live in a post modern society in which our values and lifestyles are so different from back then that it's a whole different world than it was millions of years ago.

Pain is pain no matter what the source of it is. I hate it when people make comparisons. "Well you could be starving or have cancer". Hearing stuff like that never helped and only pissed me off. "It could be worse blah blah blah". Also what someone else wants to do should have no god damn effect on what we want to do.

Are you claiming that you want to choose suicide becuase 1) you don't think you can survive or 2)you don't think life is worth it

If it's 1) they have a point but I have never heard anyone have that reasoning before. If it's 2 it has no bearing on your reasoning.
