• Hey Guest,

An update on the OFCOM situation: As you know, censorship around the world has been ramping up at an alarming pace. OFCOM, the UKā€™s communications regulator, has singled out our community, demanding compliance with their Online Safety Act despite our minimal UK presence. This is a blatant overreach, and they have been sending letters pressuring us to comply with their censorship agenda.

Our platform is already blocked by many UK ISPs, yet they continue their attempts to stifle free speech. Standing up to this kind of regulatory overreach requires lots of resources to maintain our infrastructure and fight back against these unjust demands. If you value our community and want to support us during this time, we would greatly appreciate any and all donations.

Are older people happy even when they are no longer physically attractive "I mean youth attractive" or is this my depression playing tricks on me . Do older 25+ people keep the same enthusiasm about small life things (basically what we mean by happy) or what I'm feeling is a sick depression.I sound crazy saying this ik like why would life become suddenly boring just because you changed a bit unless you are sick in the head.pls I want answers from sensible people not other depressed nihilistic members.

I wish I knew how, even if they are. The world is so materialistic and hell-bent on things like looks these days. But I get it, especially if you look like me - 21, pushing 41 with all this stress. I look like a drug addict.

If you regard over 25 as an 'older person' I'm sorry I'm too far past that to assist.

Some people don't even really have prominent signs of aging until their late 30's.

I'm just not sure that too many folk on here would class 25+ as "older". Plenty of the 40/50 year old folk in the gymn I went to had pretty hot bodies and I know a few of the women in that sort of age bracket hooked up with guys in their early twenties.

I'm 36 so I'm considered "old" by this thread. From my experience, youthful looks matter much less to us as we age. We have much other important things going on in our lives than focusing on someone's looks. We all age. Some gracefully, and others not so much. But as we age, we find value in the other things. Personality, morals and world views are much more important than how we look.

And the ones who are older who are more focused on looks than anything else still haven't grown up. Physical beauty and coveting that is a very juvenile perception. We all went through the fascination in our youth, but it fades as other things become more important.

I am inherently not as attractive as I was in my 20s, but I am much more happy. I still take care of myself, but I am more comfortable in my own skin because I care a lot less about what people think of me. That's something that comes with age too.

25 is old? Ouch.

There's a lot in life to be excited for, as you grow older priorities change and you'll always find a new reason to stick around a little longer.

At 25 I still felt like a kid (a weird one), and looks wise I benefited a lot from the changes in my appearance. I feel way more confident now.

Physically attractiveā€¦ to who? Here is the thing, when you're in your 30s and 40s and plus you don't desire or care to be "attractive" to a 19 year old, that looks much like a child to you atp (usually) and other people who are aging with you are (usually) also equally attracted to people within their own age group or at least close to it. Additionally, as a lot of people mature they find that they're more attracted to people's minds, their loyalty, their compassion - and those things make the person even more beautiful. As you age your brain matures, too. when you're 30, you'll hear a birthday and think "no way that person is 18, he looks 14/15 tops" and you'll be wrong, that little mfer will be 20 yo šŸ¤£

First off, 25+ = old? You are joking, right?

Older adults (as in actual old people, not people in their 20s or 30s, let alone those who are middle-aged) generally tend to remember positive information more than negative information and usually display more positive emotions until very late in life, though these observations can vary depending on their degree of well-being.

In reality, plenty of older people are happy. The trajectory of happiness in relation to age is diverse and is different for everyone. There are plenty of older people who have found that they are happier currently compared to when they were younger and vice versa. Also, physical attractiveness isn't one of the main factors going into happiness, at least from what I know, so I don't get the point of even mentioning it when talking about this subject.

You know, this is the third time this week I have come across a post where someone was treating being in your mid-20s or 30s as being old and I'm getting sick of it. Also, have you people ever interacted with those in their 25+ before? Most people around their mid-20s up into their 30s are usually attractive. For me personally, I find that those are the ages around when attractiveness tends to peak for both men and women.

You're assuming we were in fact attractive in our youth...šŸ¤”šŸ˜³ I much prefer being older in those terms because there is maybe less expectation on me to be attractive. I hated being around young bitchy teenagers who delighted in taking the piss out of people who didn't meet their beauty standards. I'm a 45 year old female. It's nice to no longer have those pressures. An aging body isn't so fun though.

Besides, I've mostly found older men more attractive. Late 30's to 40's. Each to their own though.

Ps. No, you will not keep the same enthusiasm about the little things. Your view on happiness will change, the things you appreciate, enjoy and prioritize will be different. The things you find cute and enduring now, will just be annoying to you. Starting at exactly 25. On your 25th birthday you will become perpetually annoyed and it'll never end.

That's why I'm asking guys. As someone who has been struggling for the past years I don't know what's it like for normal people.so I'm trying to make sense off my (sick) emotions.
So I hope you understand where that is coming from and answer with empathy instead of sarcasm everyone.

I mean I understand and my reply wasn't sarcastic. A lot of things influence happiness in life. But if the root of your happiness is your appearance then yeah you aren't gonna be happy as you grow older. If your only joy is being attractive then you are certainly going to end up miserable. But as I said, this isn't how most people operate. Yes there are growing pains in a changing appearance but older people can be happy despite it and there's no mystery surrounding it. Happiness can just exist separately.

Ig my question in simple form is "are people happy?" I feel awful and I have awful thoughts and views and it gives me sanity to know it's just me feeling like this.

I'm closer to 40 but am told I look mid twenties. I really don't try anymore. As a female, I was given the advice by my older patients moons ago... make sure you have a good facial skin care regimen in place early 30s and drink plenty of water.
I personally feel I look like I've been dragged through a swamp and I do feel at certain times of the month I look better, more of a natural glow.
I don't consider 25 and over old. I live by you are as young as you feel- I feel 60 odd but that's my physical complaints.
Drink plenty of water and take care of your skin. Many people age gracefully and actually look and feel healthy as they age.
My priorities have certainly changed from your age, you may find yours do too.
Also, I find at my age (perhaps this is due to my physical conditions) that weight doesn't fall off me easily. Crumbs at your age I could eat anything I wanted and not gain a single pound of weight. Now, looking at cake will add pounds to my hips šŸ˜‚. NB- please do not start a cake thread, honestly.
I am happy with the way I look I guess because my priorities are different.
I hope this answers your question.

What you're experiencing is completely normal, I guess everyone goes through this eventually.

Phrasing the question like this makes it too open ended, I guess.

Can ugly people happy? Sure, I know lots of them.
Can pretty people be sad? Sure, I know lots of them.

Does your looks defines your value as a person? Definitely not.

The older I get, the less I care about other people's looks.

Looks have never been that big of a deal ro me and getting older you should expect your looks to change, if that's unvearable then ya happiness is gone. i started losing my hair at 16. Didn't shed a tear, and now i shave my head. if someone finds it unattractive tough beans. it's practial. Most people my age don't mention it, those few who do are the ones paying for hair growth goo and fad diets. There is a health benefit to staying in shape but looks for vanity is a lost fight. Attractiveness seems to be a minor part of someone's life after the hot age of 25.
