The stories of Elizabeth Smart and Polly Klaas are my most personal stories. It's difficult to describe how deeply I immersed myself in them. For me, they became the quintessence of the spiral of the human spirit-there is drama, pain, tragedy, despair, hope, and faith here. I lived through them from the inside.

Their stories changed something in me forever, making me feel the fragility and value of human life in a new way.
