I have been near death like 4 times in my life, and I never had an out body or after death experience. Just one suicide attempt, but I didn't see anything.

LSD was the most similar experience to something "spiritual" I ever had. But it is just chemistry (biochemistry).

I recommend you, to not fear death. There's nothing after it to fear. Investigate about Epicurus philosophy, or Espinoza's concept of god. Certainly calming

No, I don't fear it at all, I look forward to it. I've known many people who have had near death experiences, out of body, from illness, heart attacks, serious accidents....I'm just interested in having more insight from suicide attempts. I don't believe in judgement about it from our source, more about what one creates from one's mental state when one chooses to leave by their own volition.

It's a good question certainly

No. For me it was just like being asleep. It confirmed what I already thought, that there is no afterlife

I have too much experience on a personal level and of friends that say contrary to that theory frankly.

Everyone has their own experiences and beliefs. I just shared mine. We can't say who's right or wrong. We'll only know if there's an afterlife when we die ourselves. Yes many people have had NDE, but just as many haven't. Why would there be an afterlife for some but not others? I think it's just a result of our brains shutting down. But again, that's simply my opinion from my experience. I might be wrong, I might not. Guess we'll find out one day

One of my favourite quotes: ""Death is nothing to us. When we exist, death is not; and when death exists, we are not. All sensation and consciousness ends with death and therefore in death there is neither pleasure nor pain. The fear of death arises from the belief that in death, there is awareness."

Yes, but you said you had confirmed what you had already thought...That is saying you are absolutely positive. There is no explaining to someone if they haven't had the experience. If I told you I saw a ghost walk thru a wall and physically come up to me and touch me, what would you say? That it couldn't have possibly have happened. That "confirmed" my theory that life exists outside of this realm. There can be no meeting of minds on this subject. One didn't have the experience and says it's not possible, one has the experience and says I saw it with my own eyes. If one didn't see anything, how can they confirm anything? Whenever someone doesn't believe in life after death or God, they speak as if...."this is the truth, because I didn't experience it"...While others who have experience it, they are coming from experience. See the difference?

Yes, for ME my experience confirmed what I THOUGHT. You're taking my words out of context because I didn't say what you wanted to hear. I didn't say it's not possible nor that I don't believe in God nor whatever else you're claiming. I simply shared my experience and opinion as the question asked. Clearly you only want replies from people who agree with you. I've shared my experience so I'll leave this discussion here as clearly it's a waste of time.

Again, I have experienced otherwise and know over a dozen personally who would say otherwise....because they have seen the other side, and sometimes have had proof to back it up.

Your right I'm asking for those who know. I have no time for that argument at this stage in my life.

I merely stated that it's one of my favourite quotes. I've discussed a possibly mystical experience I've had myself here.

Brother, it takes one off the question. I'm not asking whether it happens or not. It would be better to explore your experience that you described in the other post.

I've been as close as you can possibly get, getting prepped to have your organs harvested followed by a fairly long coma, there was nothing. Like others have said, sleeping without dreams. This was from a suicide attempt.

I've had a couple other comas one from an attempt one medically induced. Still nothing.

Personally, no. However, I found something interesting in a self-help book from the '60s. The author reprints a deathbed note he received from the son of the deceased. The dying man was only in his 40s, a family man, a college graduate, with no remarkable experiences prior to this. He was dying of pneumonia.

"Dear Mother:

I returned from the afterlife last night -- and came home only to stay a few days. Am in hopes of leaving some time in the morning.

I am satisfied. Would like to see you all before I go -- but can't. Death should have no terror. Everyone that comes here -- knows. Made two trips last night.

I'm glad that you can't stay long at best. Only a little pain and all is over. Laugh at Death when he comes. Death we dread -- just because we don't know it.

I would never shed a tear over any of you again. Will see you soon.

Come on -- I have found the way.

G. Bailey"

The self-help author concludes, and I agree, that "made two trips" refers to out-of-body experiences. It seems that what the dying man found there was such a relief that all the pains of living became inconsequential.

I can only hope that when my time comes, I will face it with such curiosity and fearlessness.

I've had a lot of "out of body experiences." No near death ones though. Honestly I can understand why people say it's like your soul leaves your body, the disconnection feeling is very vivid and real. However, I'm still not convinced it's really mystical or my soul, and not just all a projection in my head. I think the "astral realms" people talk about after separation are just lucid dreams, that's how I've viewed my experiences.
