Seems like the most beautiful way for your body to decompose as opposed to burial or cremation. It's basically human composting where your body remains turn into nutrient dense soil from the microbes in our body. That soil can be used to plant things. Beneficial for the environment. It's like leaving your essence behind and doing something good one last time. You return yourself/give back to the earth on our ending journey. Continuing the cycle of life. Imagine being your favorite tree or flower? I would love to be a cherry blossom tree I think.

This is beautiful - I've actually thought about this a lot! I would love my body to give nourishment to another living thing. It's a nice thing to think about, that after I pass that I'll be able to be useful.

I would love to be a beautiful lilac bush. Grew up with one at my childhood home - I loved to rub the petals along my arms because of the smell. Laying in the sun while just holding the flower to my nose. Very nostalgic!

That's very beautiful. If only it wasn't so expensive. It's definitely cheaper than a funeral but it's a shame.

IIRC it's also way better for the environment vs. a traditional burial - definitely should be more affordable!

I've heard about it, I think it's a cool idea. I thought about doing that instead of cremation once. I think if I did it, I'd like to be a large tree

Have you ever watched the HBO show "Six Feet Under"? They go over something very similar but I can't get into it without giving away some heavy spoilers.

It's one of my favorite shows of all time. Highly, highly recommend it.

I first saw it on tiktok and was instantly amazed of the decomposing process. I hate how it's only "legal" in certain regions.

It's definitely much more beneficial than burial(wasting plots of land filled with dead corpses) and cremation ashes which are unable to sustain life. It's also just a beautiful way to go out.

I haven't watched it, I don't mind at all for spoilers. Go right on ahead :)

That would be cool, but is it legal? If it was legal, I'd have my remains turned into cat food & fed to my cats.

I love the idea of eco-friendly alternatives to traditional burials. Not only do these methods help nourish the soil, they also reduce pollution caused by conventional burial and cremation; minimize land usage otherwise occupied by countless coffins, and conserve resources like wood, concrete, and metals used to create coffins and grave markers.

I also love the thought of planting a tree or small patch of flowers or herbs to commemorate the deceased instead of tombstones or grave plaques. A memorial patch of flowers would be more beautiful and practical than flower bouquets that wilt in a week or two.

Recently, I've stumbled across mushroom-based coffins that facilitate the decomposition process.

Unfortunately, terramation is over twice the cost of direct cremation. If terramation and other green alternatives were the same price or less than direct cremation, I would gladly select one of them as burial options.

Agree, for multiple reasons.
Apparently, it's still illegal in many countries, which isn't unexpected. I'll nevertheless specify it in my last wishes, legal or not.

I have thought about this burial method a lot! I'm glad to see that I am not the only one who wishes for have their body disposed of in a way that gives back to nature as opposed to rotting away in a box as ashes or a corpse.

I believe it would be an excellent way to live on after our consciousness is gone; as a true part of nature, as opposed to part of a system that despises it.

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust.

Yes! I requested it in my suicide note actually. I think it's the best option for every body (haha, see what I did there).

Ask A Mortician on YouTube is a huge supporter of things like human compost. If you're interested in the subject, you should check out her vids! It's becoming legal in more and more states thanks to her.
