I've known about this for a long time now that those filings can be responsible for many psychiatric and a host of health problems over time. Something you might want to look into getting removed if u are dealing with lots of unexplained health issues. I guess u have to find a holistic dentist as it's somewhat dangerous to remove them and u can ingest the mercury if it's not carefully removed. It might be costly to remove. I think they may have stopped using mercury fillings but when I was a kid they were using it still. So criminal to do this to people. I'm sure the dentists don't knowingly poison people but because these products are deemed safe they just do the job and don't really look into this stuff.

You should write an advice column.

This is a pretty thorough debunking of what you mentioned. https://www.quackwatch.org/01QuackeryRelatedTopics/mercury.html

You should write an advice column.
That's actually a good idea, or something along those lines not here. But start a blog. Unless it pertains to suicidal issues.

I don't remember where I initially learned of toxicity from amalgam/mercury fillings but it was a reputable source. I've seen many articles and stuff popping up about it now saying it is harmful. Maybe not right away but the longer it stays in the mouth. I ended up with hashimotos at age 23, basically a non cancerous swollen thyroid gland or goiter. They put the mercury in when I was about 10 years old. I read that mercury fillings are linked to the development of thyroid problems. Also iodine deficiency can cause goiter. It was removed from the food supply sometime in the 60's if I remember correctly. No you cannot get enough from table salt, not even close to the actual daily requirement. Not what the RDA says. I'm not sure if many people know that the food pyramid is not right either lol! But it's because there's no profit if everyone eats right and stays healthy lol! Ok I'll save these subjects for a blog or something. Unless you guys don't care.

If you present your reputable sources I will examine them. One of the things that irks me in this life is those who exploit fear and the uninformed. It is wrong in my mind to plunge people into fear over fiction devoid of evidence. I am curious Final, are you a quite anxious person naturally?

I need to clarify my position I do not feel you are exploiting any one you just seem like a victim of scare tactics and I would like to help you with that.

I thought I'd post this since mercury can cause things like depression, ADHD/ADD, and other psych problems.

I'm somewhat an anxious person but yea I'm not trying to scare anybody. It's more that if you have significant psych problems it's something someone might look into to see if removing the mercury might help you. Most people don't develop psych problems or even other health problems for no reason. So it's worth looking into these things because a lot of information is suppressed from people. I think so many illnesses have been normalized these days and a lot of people just assume they have bad genetics and being sick is just a common occurrence and there aren't things that are causing the issues that they don't know about.

I meant you no disrespect Final. I am glad you are curious and questioning. You are a compassionate soul helping others the best you can and that is to be admired. I also noticed in another thread you seem to have a very low view of yourself. I find that sad because you don't strike me as some one who enjoys hurting others. So you are not any kind of garbage like your mind is telling you. I will check out that video and get back to you.

Thanks, I've been practicing not getting offended on here lol! My sense of self worth fluctuates and I've read it's a common feature of borderline personality disorder.

As a kid I had some cavities filled and I'm not sure if it was with mecury or not. Wouldn't surprise me if my current mental state is the result of the long-term mecury exposure from those fillings, if they were filled using some sorta mecury filling or whatever dentist use to fill cavities. I've also had pretty much all of those cavities redone with crowns or whatever which was done in the late 2000s. Of course the original cavity fillings were done around the mid to late 90s.

OK so I looked over the video and associated links and there is just too much to dismantle and I don't think it would be educational either if I did make the effort. Instead I would like to show you how you can be vigilant for bias. So I have question for you Final. Fancy being set a challenge by me? I find the best way to demonstrate something is to let the person discover it for themselves and have their own eureka moment. If you are up for it I will aim to present it tomorrow when I am not so nausea's. If you are not up for it, that is fine as well, no pressure.

Peace.

to @Misanthrope's point, beware of the source. the source of your info is a holistic dentist who has financial motivations to promote the theory. however, in her list of symptoms she does not directly link sources. instead, she provides a unwieldy list knowing that the average person is not going to fact check.

while i did not do an extensive fact check, here are a couple problematic issues with her list:
  • a large number (i'd say majority) of the research articles are about mercury toxicity in general, and not related to amalgam fillings
    • this includes, weirdly, citing several studies and news articles about crematoriums, which pollution concerns to be sure, has nothing to do with a live person's symptoms
  • on at least one that does relate specifically to amalgam fillings (a study by Health Canada) it comes to the conclusion that:
    10. Conclusions
    1. Dental amalgam contributes
detectable amounts of mercury to the body,
and is the largest single source of mercury
    exposure for average Canadians. However,
this exposure is not causing illness in the
    general population

this makes me question if she actually reads the studies she is using for references, or just grabbing them up based on titles
  • i'm sure given time this particular source could be further shown to be less than reliable
