Method Any way to induce brain death?

I bet there's already been a few people talking about this but I just can't find a conclusive answer. In my country you have to be declared brain dead in order to donate organs, no clear legislation on how suicide affects it so let's just take that problem out of the table for a bit. Are there any methods of inducing brain death? Anything with a decent chance of working out, doesn't matter how painful or damaging or whatever.

Inert gas causes brain death by hypoxia. One of the most peaceful ways to go.
