Have you guys seen any case of any Swiss eutanasia company like Exit, Dignitas, etc accepting psychiatric patient?

I read That in Netherlands, some mentally ill people could get eutanasia, but they dont accept foreigners, just Netherland citizen.. So Swiss is world famous for their eutanasia turism, but I only see for terminal or very Old patients.

Would it be possible for foreigners, young age with enough proofs of psychiatric disease?

I can't give a solid answer, but from what i read i don't think they will accept someone whose only problem is a mental health disorder.
They seem to focus on physical diseases that cause "incurable, excruciating pain".
Adding to that there are all the questions they usually bring up about someone with a mental disorder being in condition of making such a decision.
So i'm almost 100% sure that no they won't accept someone as you described in Dignitas.
In the Netherlands, as you mentioned, there seems to be a bigger acceptance. I think there was a 29 year old woman whose plea was accepted and her only problem was a lifelong major depressive disorder, much to the pro lifers dismay lmao.

Its crazy to me they won't accept someone who is mentally suffering. Illness may it be physical or mental is very draining day in and day out. Physical illness causes pain, and suffering and in return effects one mentally. Mental suffering also effects us, and has shown to cause physical distress. Long term effects of mental illness has shown to cause physical health issues. It goes hand in hand. For pete's sake, both have the word 'illness' in it, and that alone should be enough to get assisted suicide. So fucked up how the system works.

Dignitas definitely accepts psychiatric patients. It's a little "easier" for Swiss natives to qualify than foreigners because they are citizens of an assisted suicide friendly country.

The problem is the qualification process. Its long and reiterative and requires the patient to have significant documentation of multiple therapeutic attempts to get approval. The patient must have tried a substantial number of therapies and be declared treatment resistant before a Swiss doctor will authorize a prescription for lethal drugs.

In order for foreigners to be approved at Dignitas the patient would have to have a psychiatrist from their native country certify that they are both "treatment resistant" and "competent to make all decisions with regard to end of life". The patient would need this in addition to the significant documentation I mentioned above. Most countries / US states do not approve euthanasia. As such, getting a doctor to make the aforementioned declarations would be near impossible.

Video of 24yr old woman "Emily" euthanized in Belgium
- After completing the process for approval Emily decided not to go through with it. Two-three years later however she completed the process (euthanized 2018)

See attached brochure for Dignitas approval process for those with mental illness.

It's just too much work and it's a small fortune you have to invest: 4000€ for the act itself + 3000€ if you want them to take of the funeral/cremation for you + Travels and hotel (because you need to be consulted by the same doctor inside a 2 week span). So with everything it's going to be roughly 10K, if i'm not mistaken.

From a fellow referred to only as A. We don't want to highjack this thread, but if you look near the top of the forum you'll find a thread called List of Resources; among other useful links is one to clarification of the abbreviations used around here. Enjoy your research

I'm a she-soul. Highjacking a thread means filling a thread someone else started with posts that are about something else. Off you go! 8]

The double standard in the medical community of physical pain being greater than psychological pain is such bull shit. If someone has a chronic, documented, emotionality painful psychiatric condition they should have the same rights as those with cancer or other "physical" disease.

The arguement we hear of "they arent in their right mind" is not even relevant and most people with these psychiatric
disorders are fully aware and rational they are just suffering, in a different kind of way than a cancer patient.
