Exactly what I thought……seems she got the combination correct. Horrible to her Mum to wake up to that morning though.

But very jealous of how simple it seemed but don't have full facts

Bear in mind that sleeping pills in the 50's were barbiturates, some of them were Pentobarbital (N). Because of their narrow therapeutic margin they were replaced by benzos.

Keep in mind she was sick with heart issues and was a smoker… so this combo won't work for everyone. Super jealous.. not fair

I'd say it's only viable if you combine sleeping pills with opioids, alcohol, or other depressant drugs.

It's the potentiation of each other that reduces the threshold for respiratory depression. In her case it was probably mostly caused by the opioids. The zopiclone and diazepam (both having similar pharmacodynamic effects on GABA receptors) probably just potentiated/facilitated the death from the opioids.

Sleeping pills on their own require absurd doses to ctb and are a very unreliable method.
