Give me any genre recommendation except for yaoi/sports/cooking.

I strongly advise to watch records of ragnarok. I like arifutera too but it is not something crazy. Also avoid akame ga kill at all cost. This anime was written so badly and is so frustrating that it litterally became a meme for it

I love the anime Dororo, criminally underrated I'm not sure if the one you mentioned is something different though. I started watching Black lagoon and it's pretty good but it's not as dark as I thought it would be

I love J-rock so I enjoy watching Japanese anime with rock bands.
I'll recommend K-on and Bocchi the Rock. I felt very relaxed while watching these animes because there were cute girls lol

Hunter x Hunter and Made in Abyss are in my top 3 so I always recommend that. HxH has a storyline anyone could fall in love with and MiA has some of the most beautiful art I've seen in anime. I think most anime watchers have seen these two tho :p

Vampire Hunter D (2000) has a captivating gothic art style. Its plot revolves around a dhampir (half vampire half human) vampire hunter who is hired to find a girl kidnapped by a vampire. Death Parade is another good one, it had me hooked from the first episode, and I love that this anime follows the anthology series format. Each episode they'll introduce a new character and delve into their backstory, with some characters shifting from throwaway character territory to supporting character status.

And anything made by Satoshi Kon. With the current weather, Tokyo Godfathers would be a good one to watch. Other recs made by Satoshi are Paranoia Agent, Paprika, and Millennium Actress. :)

I haven't finished Sword art online and couldn't get into Attack on Titans but i've heard great things about Akame ga kill so that on my list as well as Blood-C

I personally really like Sailor Moon. It has that kind of 80s/90s aesthetic that I really enjoy, and the characters are very cute of course :3
Onii-chan wa Oshimai is a shorter one, but it's really fun imo. of course i'm biased, but that shouldn't be an issue :)
My friend enjoys That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime Monster. It's a very nice isekai apparently.

Definitely GOLDEN KAMUY. Action packed, yet slice of life. Weird and hilarious, yet educational and emotional. It's a lot of things and the Final season is one I must watch this year before I CTB.

There's also Beastars, Berserk (the old version from 1997), After the rain, Made in abyss. Dorohedoro is fun.
Koi Kaze which is incest but made me feel a lot of things.

Wolf children and in this corner of the world (extended, complete version) both of which are hauntingly beautiful.
