The Temporary Problem is Life

hello, fantastic travelers!

I discovered something that may prove interesting and useful.

that is the chemical Benzocaine - the active ingredient in Anbesol, Orajel and other topical oral anesthetics.

Anbesol maximum strength is of particular note as it is 20% Benzocaine (in a nifty minty flavored liquid no less!). 20% can also be found in gels and creams. 10% and other concentrations are also available.

Benzocaine causes methemoglobinia. it's specifically listed on the warning label (Anbesol anyway)! and, there are reports of people requiring emergency assistance after ingesting too much (or they had an existing condition which made methemoglobinia occur at a lower threshold). so, there is the possibility to use it as a ticket instead of SN.

unfortunately, the LD50 is higher than SN but Benzocaine (BC) has benefits over SN.

1. BC is available in the dental care section of markets, pharmacies and other stores. no need to order online. hell, you might be able to social engineer some from a few dentists.
2. BC isn't suspicious. a bottle of SN turns heads and leads to questions. BC is just a simple drug to make your toothache or canker sores stop being painful for a while.
3. BC may work well with SN. BC may be able to numb the tongue and prevent those salty tastes for which SN is famous.
4. BC can be purchased over-the-counter. or stolen. whatever.
5. BC is easily replaceable. no need to worry about ordering another bottle of SN if things don't go as planned or if it gets confiscated.
6. BC has caused methemoglobinia simply through absorption through the gums. that could mean an easier application than SN.
7. BC comes in many brands and forms. "testing the efficacy" of these brands and forms serves as a good reason for a large supply.
8. BC can be absorbed through the skin. sources suggest that this absorption becomes stronger if the BC is covered by a bandage or the like. easy application.
9. BC can be taken on trips, etc. without confiscation. Once again, it's incognito. SN can easily be confused for SN3 - it has been stated on this site that people (including cops and psychologists) have confused the two and believed SN was the highly reactive chemical instead of SN3.
10. BC (maybe) takes mixers better. SN reacts with acids which neutralizes the anticipated effects. BC may not (I'm no chemist). SN tastes salty. BC comes in mint flavors. overall, BC seems like the more palatable option.
11. BC can be administered on the fly. a trip to the dental aisle in Wal-Mart followed by an extended trip to the restroom increases options. note: involving other people in a ctb, intentionally or not, is a dick move

I'm no Stan. BC may or may not work for you if you hammer out the calculations. you'll need to look into it yourself. but, it may give an option to those without easy access to SN.

safe travels!
