I experience chronic nightmares, and they are all similar in one aspect. They are always about me doing some terrible shit which I have zero control of. Like killing and dismembering people, torturing animals, commiting massive shootings, sometimes even molesting children. I just want to clarify that I have absolutely NO intent on doing those things, but when I talked to my therapist about it, she said that the reason for it might be my unreleased anger and frustrations that want to break free. I'm scared she might be right and those constant dreams might actually mean a lot more than just something that tortures me every night.

The more u focus on these thoughts the more strength u give them.
This is some sort of ocd. When we are inside our brain we treat all the thoughts similarly we tend to not give any of them more importance than the other. But a thought tirggers us we keep fighting them and thats the problem.
STOP FIGHTING THOSE THOUGHTS!
u are not in a fight , ur thoughts arent trying to harm u. Its just thoughts/dreams that simply exist, its normal.
U need to learn to be ok with it . Keep reminding urself that its just ragebait . Trust me it works.
I had a similar experience where i spent few years fighting my thoughts. The moment i realised i was safe it stopped being an issue. Sure sometimes it surfaces back but once i remind myself what it is exactly. I feel so much better

No you not a bad person for this cus these aren't real. You aren't hurting any real people and that you are not intending to do these things in real life then thats all that matters in my opinion.

Can this actually be ocd? I thought it's just something that has to do with compulsive behaviours.

I can try, but it's really hard if I experience it every night.

I know, but behaviours like that usually start with thoughts about it. That's what worries me.

hi jecka ♡
i do not have nightmares but i experience very frequent intrusive thoughts of a few of the things you have listed. i promise this does not say anything about the person you are, especially when you know yourself that you would never commit such acts. also it is completely normal to feel this disgust or guilt as i still catch myself in this often. the best thing is to remind yourself that this is not real, this is not you 🫂🫂 wishing you the best

absolutely not, you are not a bad person. you can think of the mind as it's own independent being. like others who mentioned it here, learn to stop fighting the thoughts because that is giving them power.

I've had recurring dreams about stomping peoples faces in, or killing people for years and have never acted out on it. As long as you don't follow through on your dreams, you'll be fine.
