Hello
I've been on benzos for several years and developed muscle spasms after quitting. They come back when I drink alcohol or take magnesium.. I heard it has to do something with the gaba receptors. I know that meto works on the dopamine receptors. Will I suffer side effects from this?

Yes. Take Domperidone instead. It doesn't cross blood brain barrier.

EPS symptoms are caused by excess blocking of dopamine receptors. Gaba opposes dopamine at most of the time, as it's an inhibitory neurotransmitter afaik. You maybe disturbed your excitatory signal-inhibitory signal balance by long term benzo usage.

GABA receptor agonists display a dual action on DA-mediated events. One includes a decrease in DA release, reduction in DA receptor density, and decreased response of postsynaptic cells to dopaminergic stimulation; it results in antidopaminergic effects

Idk. We only buy meds from the pharmacies here..

You have to search that if N causes emesis or not. There is a megathread about N, you may want to look at it.

Will any of the Dopamine Antagonists listed in this link (https://www.drugbank.ca/categories/DBCAT000603) work as Antiemetic to SN (sodium nitrite)?

What are some alternative dopamine antagonists to metoclopramide?

Any Suggestions?

I can't get Domperidone (Motilium). I'm in US. I searched for it but no luck..

Any viable alternatives to Metoclopramide (antiemetic to SN) available to purchase? I'm in US..

@how2toGetout
I had saw Prochlorperazine once before on this forum, but that drug is more dangerous than metoclopramide as far as I know. Can cause extrapyramidal side effects.

I think i found some threads involving Prochloperazine that you're talking about:

Do side effects really matter though? I mean, in the long run?
