The cravings are less frequent, the worst of the mental impairments seem to have lifted. It was really bad in the first 4 weeks. My energy is alright but I still tire out kind of easily. My mood is much more stable, the sense of impending doom and excessive anxiety is gone.

Relationships have improved but having feelings back has made things more complicated. I'm seeing how fucked up my life has been more clearly lol! Even though I'm sober it doesn't change that I might have to ctb because I can't go back and fix the past. I'm already a 42 yr old woman with massive debt and no life pretty much.

I'm not sure I could focus well enough and learn easily off the adderall at this point. If this does improve it will take many months for the brain to heal from the postings I've read from other people. I'm pretty sure there's some permanent damage since I was on it from age 25 to 42 with not much long term breaks in that time.

How much were you on? I'm 41 and been on it for about the same amount of time. I always took it as directed. The last 5 years i have been in a total brain fog and I have all the symptoms you describe.

Good luck.

Good luck.
I was prescribed 40 mg but usually only took 20 mg IR but after awhile I got sick of the side effects as I got older. I'm not even sure at what point I finally dropped myself down to 5mg per day, but I stayed there for a long time. Wait I remember, basically I had some trouble with getting one of my meds on time. The additional ones I was on to deal with the adderall side effects.

Because I was having trouble getting refills sometimes I got scared that this might happen again in the future. I went into withdrawal quite quickly from lamictal and I couldn't afford this to happen. I mean if they are going to prescribe these meds and be unreliable about refills. That's scary shit because most of us have to work and function.

So I came off most of the psych meds I was on at age 36 the more I learned that psychiatry is mostly bullshit, the meds are mostly bullshit and bad for u. I had made my first serious attempt to quit adderall at 36 but I ended up relapsing because I didn't fully understand about protracted withdrawal syndrome.

I made it sober for three months but I was not in a good situation and stress led me back to the psych to get a new fill for adderall. I had forgotten how bad it was and slipped right back in. Then once again I was a mess and life went on and just lived feeling like shit, depressed, numb, self destructive for some more years until I finally just had to stop.

It was sooooo hard to get through the early weeks, crying spells, can't plan because u might get hit by sudden exhaustion, apathy, shit mood that hits u by surprise, time management is a bitch at first, prioritizing. You think you're gonna get fat but it levels out as your appetite goes back to normal. It helps if u can get to gym as soon as u are able to deal with the initial depression and to help u get to sleep. You will have sleep disturbance initially. You must pound the nutrients at first, this actually reduced my cravings. Put fresh veggies like kale, apple, berries, etc. in blender with protein powder, milk. That really really helped reduce the brain cravings plus the gym.

I have been on that in the past for ADD. I also weaned myself off, and it was not an easy thing to do.
