So I have a 105.3 fever so pardon if I'm not making sense in my phrasing but I've been trying to find an answer for years about this but now it's critical.

So when a person does commit suicide, how much investigation generally follows? Obviously it's different for minors! But what's the protocol? I would like to know for a few reasons.
Like... I don't know how else to phrase this, I'm sorry! I'm just wondering what happens/what kind of investigations if any happen, do they have permission to go through anything (but why would they?) (and I mean through your online accounts or belongings irl)

I guess these things don't matter after death but I do want some dignity when I go out

im pretty sure they can if they have family permission and/or there's a reason to believe someone caused or setup the suicide

That is quite a Fever are you sure you have not been exposed to coronavirus? Only asking because that is a major health risk that will kill hundreds of hundreds of people.

I don't know how to say this in a soft way. But I care enough to give a direct answer to direct questions, and I think you are wise and intelligent to ask them.

If they consider it germane to the investigation, they will go through it. Anything at the scene. So if your computer is there, they could take it and forensic analysts could find pretty much anything, even if you cleared your history. They don't need a warrant for anything at the scene. If you ctb away from home, they could conceivably get a warrant and go through your things at home if they are at all suspicious of foul play or claim they are. Unfortunately, they are not concerned with your dignity, they are concerned with being certain it is not a homicide. Nowadays it seems there are also agendas, so they may dig deeper into one's personal life, as seems to be the case with the coroner in England.

I know this because of dinner conversations growing up, my father was a death investigator. He talked a lot about his cases and how things worked. I even as an adult assisted him at a couple of homicide scene seminars he presented at. I respected him, but I no longer have any trust or respect for law enforcement.

EDIT: I realize their going through your computer sounds dramatic, and if it's obvious that it's a suicide, it would be unlikely. But cops do some strange and exceedingly sketchy shit nowadays. Especially in L.A. That department has been exceedingly sketchy since always.

First, how are you alive and coherent with a fever like that?

Second, they can dig into your stuff. I guess it depends on how suspicious it all looks. Most people reset and lock or destroy their devices to prevent that.

I think there's not much reason to freak out about it, really. Unless you're found to be involved in sketchy stuff or they suspect homicide, there's probably little need to go beyond just deleting for privacy.

Yeah! With the two (or three?) cases in Orange County I've been freaked out. But I'm good in terms of that. Trust me; I was nervous too for a quick moment but I'm good.

I dunno man. I have a shit immune system (always have) and idk I'm just used to it at this point; I'm not a stranger to getting hella sick. i genuinely feel like I'm dying. I repeat I don't have the virus tho, got checked out at UCLA. This all came from a damn sinus infenction. I'm on antibiotics. Blah

Anyways thanks for all of your answers. And to anerrr how I'm coherent I literally don't know and I'm not lol. The page is swirlin (my vision has felt so weak since I got sick). Can't sleep tho even after 8 Zolpidem. Blegh. I have chills so bad they fuckin hurt

This is REALLY interesting, thank you for taking the time for such a detailed reply. That's pretty much what I figured. I don't know what answer I'm really looking for since I know that's basically it. But yeah thank you very much.

Clear your devices if you don't want them to explore your personal life. Encrypt > Delete > Overwrite > Delete this will make it very hard to recover. If you want more secure method use a baseball bat.

Why leave anything for speculation?

Even more secure, follow with submerging in water or a corrosive like Coca-Cola.

The problem with destroying devices is what if one survives but does not have the money to replace them?

Yeah, see, I can't bear that thought. I also don't want to lose my digital life, so to speak.

My solution was to buy online backup and store everything. I found something that let me backup all my devices. I'm the only person who knows I have this. So I can reset everything, but if I survive or change my mind, my stuff can be retrieved. And if I go through with it, it'll be deleted when my subscription expires.

That's a good solution.

Ultimately, if they truly want to dig, they don't even need devices. All it takes is one known email address or social media account, and they can track what sites the IP address has visited and compare to other IP addresses, etc. Everyone leaves a digital footprint.

Oh yeah, that's the other thing. My passwords and emails I use for all my crap are "secret." Anything that isn't, I'm not hiding anyway. Nobody is going digging through my stuff. I just want basic privacy.

Instead of destroying easier to put in box and hide outside . I intended to bury HD and phone in sealed box somewhere around me . This way if ctb fails I can recover it , and on the other hand no one will have access to it . In such case they have to literally dig :ahhha:

What can they do? Everything, given court order

What will they do? Mostly nothing , no resources , and they don't care  (unless suspicious circumstances , family request , or prude politician )

@TrailerTrash , I can't look at your posts , care to share/.?

A lot of stuff is my work related and there is too much data for me to be able to back up everything online. Once its gone there is no turning back for me, but I am sure about my decision so I will keep only the most important stuff completely encrypted multiple copies, which are connected to my finance or other something very important. I will make new email accounts for super important services and replace the old one. All social media stuff will be gone, I think they all give some sort of recovery period incase you deleted your account impulsively or someone hacked it.

I am worried about my privacy and possible misuse of my data not worried about hiding something. I will do more research about this topic and update here.

Remember to keep hd and mobile devices in a sealed packets first. May be also use some bubble wrap.
