When I was 10-12 years old my mom bought me a game with was rated USK 16. In Germany that means you can only buy it if you are over 16. The reasons were nudity and rude language. I grew up watching a lot of animes and was interested into nudity in animes. In Germany there was massive censorship of violence in animes. (because of a shooting which was blamed on animes). The TV stations had less problems with nudity. I think there are movies in Germany which show real boobs for up the age 6. I will have to make a research for a thread because it always stunned me how in the US nudity is more of a problem than violence.
Ranma 1/2 for example was an anime with a lot of nudity and also uncensored in German TV. Interestingly, for example in Yugioh we just undertook the severe US censorship which really fucked me up. It is ridiculous and destroyed some episodes and the logic behind them.
In Dragonball not Dragonball Z there are a lot of sex jokes. It is not really appropriate for very young children. And there is also some nudity. But I only watched the older Dragonball episodes when I was some years older they barely were aired to that time. And the DVDs were released later.
So my mom bought me as a fucking primary grade student a game for 16 year old. My sister was shocked how can you there is shown a nude woman under a shower? My mom said well she does not think this is that bad. I was so fucking hyped. I wanted to see that nude woman. Lmao. I never used the internet for it. My parents prohibited me that. It is funny I later found out one of my closest friends watched hardcore porn at that age.
I was so fucking disappointed. You only see Son Goku naked in that game. There is this famous non panty shot of Bulma when she wants to show her pantys to Muten Roshi. Kid Goku removed them though when she slept. And if you know how the DS looked like with two screens you will khow they showed the revealation. You could not see anything. In the anime you see at least her ass as I found out later. In the anime you can also see her breasts at the showering scene. (Am I manic or why do I think about these things so much?).
I read so much fake news about the game. And for my primary student me this game was such a huge disappoinment. I had a cheating device. Which was extremely cool for Pokemon games. (Walk through walls all shiny legends ect. I liked to distribute more cheated legends and shiny ditos). But it also did not help me with this Dragonball game.
I think not even in the Japanesee version of the game uncensored there is a nude Bulma (the female protagonist) in this game. I was interested when I was older because I wanted to know whether I was fooled by fake rumors on the internet as a stupid kid. Actually, I am not sure what was actually censored in the German version. Tbh now I think close to nothing. It was all just bullshit.
Does anyone know about this game and its censorship? I think in some parts of the world I think Australia they wanted to stop the distribution of this game. Which just fueld my excitement (and later disappointment) even more. The game is so vanilla. The anime series is compared way more naughty and explicit.
