So i came up with the idea of using a sphygmomanometer(blood pressure device) for blocking the carotids I don't know whether it can block both arteries but theoretically i think it can work
Interesting. Since the blood-pressure cuff is wide, it creates an even pressure around the neck. And there is also no danger of cutting your neck, as could happen with a cable. (You had written something about using a cable in another thread.)Donavin Prough was a documented case of this...

Blood pressure cuffs that have been used on me were connected to an automatic thing that tightened then released... I'm imagining that with this sphygmomanometer device you can keep tightening it? It's enough to make me want to order one, but it would seem like a weird thing to arrive in the mail.Interesting. Since the blood-pressure cuff is wide, it creates an even pressure around the neck. To tighten it, would you keep inflating it with more air?I have a non-automatic blood pressure meter. The automatic thing wont work for this method because it stops automatically.
Yes, you just keep pumping. To tighten it, would you keep inflating it with more air?
Do you think it's necessary to buy a special made tourniquet? Or is an improvised one good enough?Maybe you need a new cuff or a larger XL size. But I still think a tourniquet is better for the carotid method.
I will do some tests and measurements tomorrow (not on my neck).
I kind of agree with you, but someone has managed to tighten one around their neck fatally, which is surprising in itself. To be honest, I think this device is unreliable for our purposes. The sticky part is very easy to detach when this part is increasingly inflated.
I measured my blood pressure in a similar way by wrapping my arm. And this thing that wraps around the arm is constantly being disconnected, because the sticky part does not connect one end to the other well :(
I would buy one (amazon: brand name TIME, US$12,-)Do you think it's necessary to buy a special made tourniquet? Or is an improvised one good enough?
All exceptions and possibilities have to be eliminated as much as possible so the fist attempt will be successful.
