A question for alcoholics. Does alcohol make you on average, more happy? In long term.

I myself use alcohol as a "medicine". It de-stresses and calms my mind. I don't even think about suicide when I'm drunk. But clearly everything in mind again. You can't be drunk 24/7 either. You can't "live" like that

Usually when I am drunk I can't think about anything except death.
That's useful.
In a long term I believe it will help me to die, therefore become happy.

Alcohol can numb my pain/problems short term but it never solved them and won't ever solve any problems. I'm not an alcoholic.

I would drink 3x a week if it wasn't for calories. It does give me some relief but I just do it once a month. Am past caring about health risks.

I basically never drank and I can't drink because I live with strict parents who won't ever let me drink alcohol. It's annoying at how I can't really drink despite being an adult but I'm growing apathetic. I don't think that alcohol would solve my issues

It tastes like crap, turns you into a zombie and makes you puke everywhere with stomach pains. If anything makes life worse. I'm really OCD about food/drink and stuff but even just the smell of vodka makes me want to heave. If beer, vodka, etc was so good and tasty you would have food flavoured products. It's the biggest cope for neurotypicals lol. Even comparing beer with an orange juice or even a sugary Coca Cola - there is no comparison.

I wasn't an alcoholic but I use to be a binge drinker . Every weekend getting drunk with friends was what I lived for . It was a temporary escape and numbed the depression and social anxiety. Of course the next day the depression came back worse

In Italy it was only wine and stuff with food. No getting off your head. In the UK? Drink as much as you can til you pass out, alcohol poisoning with ambulance or puking everywhere.

All their children loved to drink. I got roped in sometimes but didn't like it. Eventually I just became the driver as I didn't like drinking and safety wise didn't like walking places at night - I'd rather drive back. It's very much a UK thing to do. Similar to how so many guys like football and think the team is "theirs". Mass psychosis.

short term? i'm happy as a clam and really the only thing that helps me sleep. long term? luckily i was never an angry drinker and i hardly ever puked but hangovers are getting worse and the withdrawal that follows really sucks. i just got up and am debating whether i should go get some more because i know i'll pay for it tomorrow.

UK is a totalitarian shithole. As long as tax or money from anything goes to government then they are happy.
Example they put cigarettes behind boards so you can see them but above them in plain site is vapes. You can argue that vaping is better than cigarettes but it's just chemicals and other crap you are taking into your lungs.
I think the government wants everybody fucked from beer - fucks up body so more reliant on government (NHS), messes up your brain function so more chance of taking advantage. Having a "pint" is like breathing here. Even the cunty politicians do it so they look "part of the people".

Alcohol made me pretty happy. Some of the happiest times of my life, but can't remember much. And got in a few fights……….. sometimes I miss being drunk ALL THE TIME. It was light and fun

alcohol makes me happy in the short term, but then depression hits like a truck. The short-term effect however is addictive and that's why I drink sometimes.
