i will be using the CO poisoning method inside my car, but i need to know a few things please helep:

1. how many briquette charcoals would i need to burn in the grill for it to be effective? (chatgpt says briquette emits the most CO so i am getting that)

2. if i leave the car on, and lets say i change my mind and so i roll down the windows to release all the CO, would it start an explosion/fire?

3. is it ok to have the car AC on during the process?

4. do i light up the charcoal with a torch lighter or can i light some matchsticks and throw it in the grill with the charcoal?

5. do i put the grill on the passenger seat next to me or at the backseats?

no.
you have 2 settings on the fans, new air thats counterproductive or recycling the air that would work but wont cool you down so also counterproductive

strange, chatgpt told me having the AC on won't make much of a difference but i'll still take your word over it as it tends to share misinformation sometimes

As @jewelxxet said, if your A/C is set to exchange air outside the vehicle then you'll constantly be leaking CO outside and letting in new Oxygen inside. It will definitely be counterproductive. IF your A/C is set to recycle cabin air, then you don't have that problem so you ought to be okay there if what you're looking for is to be cool and not hot... but the coals are going to be pretty hot in a small space so it might only be cooler if you're directly in front of a blower.

hi queen i tried this method a few weeks ago (nothing went wrong i personally bailed) i didn't turn the cabin air on but that's honestly what made me open the door. the car gets sooooooooooooooooooo stuffy and hot and it's just—-uncomfortable. it's not painful but it's not pleasant. granted i should've just laid down in the car but since i was already feeling the effects i was kinda stupid and the only thing on my mind was "FRESH AIR NOW!! I NEED TO COOL OFF!!" I used matchsticks and grill starter to light my charcoal, although i didn't use briquettes as people say that the impurities in the briquettes can give you a headache when it's burning. to figure out just how much u need, you need to know how many cubic meters of space ur car has. i drive a two door mini cooper so 6lbs of charcoal was just fine (about a soup pot full). i didn't use a bbq grill i just put a whole bunch of charcoal in a cooking pot but i had no issues just throwing the match inside the pot. i had it burning outside of course. because there will be a slight flame emitting from it, i recommend putting the grill in the back seat so you don't burn your glove box (u want to keep the bbq grill low) however i also drive an unusually small car so that was another reason i put it in the trunk of my car. make sure you bring someone to put the hot grill on or you'll start a fire or burn the inside of your car. i didn't keep my car on so i can't answer if opening the door and releasing all the co2 would do anything but i will say that when i bailed in just opened the door and laid on the floor, i felt drunk for like 30 minutes afterwards.

i'd equate the feeling of the inside of the car to getting inside of your car on a hot day. that weird stuffiness and it feels like u can't really breathe but it's not uncomfortable or painful

@iwashere thank you so much for your input!
make sure you bring someone to put the hot grill on or you'll start a fire or burn the inside of your car.

but i must ask, what do you mean by this? im kinda confused, i will be doing this alone
also, the car is a dodge charger its about 3.28 cubic meters
i think the reason it felt unpleasant for you is because you're only supposed to get in the car after its been burning there for a while

To be clear... you're not supposed to be burning the charcoal inside the car. That will fill the car with smoke and be completely unpleasant and might make you sick long before you would die.

You're supposed to be burning the charcoal completely outside your car (or whatever enclosed area you choose)... then when the fire/smoke has stopped, you take the hot/white coals into your enclosed area (car) and then you're good to go. The CO generated by the coals at that point is completely colorless and odorless and has nothing to do with the smoke generated earlier... so you'd just be unnecessarily punishing yourself sitting through the smoky part.

omg i'm so stupid, i meant bring someTHING to put the hot grill on. i used a big steel circle that was sitting in my kitchen lol

and yes i understand, the car is small though and you can't wait for the charcoal to all turn white because then it's not emitting co2 anymore. the flame has to be low and controlled. i kept it in the car for 30 minutes before i entered so the cabin could get co2 in it. your car is going to get hot regardless because u are burning hot charcoal in it lol

i found some pictures of my pot when i brought it in for reference actually. u cant really tell bc it's very faint but there was a small but controlled flame going IMG 4237

I feel like you're missing a crucial part of what happens here... Let me try to break it down.

When the coal is actually burning, as in you see flames and have some smoke, that means you are getting complete burning, which results in more carbon dioxide. Some carbon monoxide is still produced, but you're wasting a lot of what could have been carbon monoxide because a flame going means a proper burn is happening and you're getting mostly carbon dioxide.

This is why you want to do the full burn outside, then when the flame is done... the white hot coals are still burning, they are just burning less efficiently, thus you're getting more carbon monoxide... and that's when you're at the most risk.

Read the threads on here about this for better versions... but basically if you're seeing flame going, you're not getting as much carbon monoxide as you could be. For healthy situations, that's better obviously... but when you're trying to suffocate yourself, you obviously want more carbon monoxide and less carbon dioxide.

It may still work... it's just likely not as good as it would be if you let the flames die out first. Also, you'll have more other pollutants that might make you sick and also the increased carbon dioxide production interferes too since it is CO2 that triggers your body's fight/flight response... so it might take longer and be less comfortable.

@iwashere @Dejected 55 preciate you guys for all these helpful things you've posted on the thread

@Dejected 55 i never knew about the part where i have to let all the smoke out before putting it in the vehicle, thanks a bunch for letting me know !

@iwashere the pictures you have provided are very helpful and gives me a better idea , just to make sure it was in the trunk , correct? what car do was this on ? i need to know so i can research the cubic meters of that car you used , and with the amount of charcoal you used , ican calculate how much i need to use for my ownself in my charger. unlike yours, the trunk on the charger is separated/enclosed from the rest of the car, so i would have to do it in the backseats

im thinking of using bricks in a _| shape against the backseats so the charcoal can burn safely
ChatGPT gives suicide advice?

@richardpinkhammer its quite weird actually, on the newer models (which you get for free for limited usage daily), it first gives you that "suicide is bad dont do it" talk, then still tells you anyway lol

i drive a mini cooper coupe S 2012. it's 2.1 cubic meters inside and i used 6.9 oz of charcoal iirc. i did place the pot in the trunk but that is because the space that the "backseat" is typically placed is just trunk space with a little hatch in between both seats. IMG 2815 IMG 2818 IMG 2816

thank you so much!! sounds like a good idea to bring more than you think you may need. kinda inspiring me to try this again tbh!!! lmk if u end out choosing to turn on the air. that's one of the biggest reasons i don't care to try again—- that and you have to fight ur SI for like 1.5 hour to drive to the spot, light the charcoal then have it sit in ur car for like 15-30 minutes so the cabin gets full of co2. what i did is i was just making goodbye videos and talking to myself on the phone saying over and over again Im sorry this is happening, it helped me make it more real. i remember sitting in the car being like omggggg im actually doing it ::33

yeah it'll be harder to do where im at where the heat is usually already 40+°C, i will be bringing some benadryls with me as dph blocks acetylcholine from triggering sweat glands i can imagine being drenched in sweat would be really uncomfortable .. but if everything goes perfect i should lose consciousness within my first few breaths in the car anyway

Don't know how much it would help... but years ago when I first started thinking about suicide, I considered staying up all day at least the day before, possibly a second day or half day... the point being, whenever I have stayed up more than a day I get to a point eventually where I just cannot stay awake, sit down for a minute and I'm sleeping almost immediately... so I thought maybe staying up for a movie marathon or something the day or so before to keep me awake and then when I'm ready to go I would be even more ready to pass out asleep.
