I don't feel really concerned: people who support him think he has the right to commit suicide because he's disabled and suffers. This debate is useless for the universal right to catch the bus without any condition.

Brave man, it's utterly appalling that he had to not only suffer that horrific degenerative disease, but that he wasn't even permitted to die peacefully. How many more undignified deaths until assisted suicide is properly implemented? This is heartbreaking.

I was wondering whether this was gonna get posted. Unfortunately, he planned on live streaming his death in an act of activism, but fb got on their high horse and now blocked his account. As if there hadn't been already plenty cases of ppl ctbing on live stream...

I'm so glad the Netherlands and Switzerland exist, this is the false progressism of west Europe. Not being able to die in such conditions is awful, and saying "he doesn't fit the necessary conditions to be euthanized" as if being less than a breathing "being" isn't already a ""sufficient"" condition. I felt truly ashamed hearing the news.

Assisted suicide will never be legal as long as insurance companies are making a fortune keeping suffering people alive.
It's not about morality - it's about money.

But it's the same situation in most countries with public health care systems as well. Like the UK and the Scandinavian countries.

In my mind, it's more a problem of the majority of people loving life and being unreasonable scared of death, so they don't understand the wish and need for dying, mix in some religion and "morals". In a 100 years I think things will be different, it just takes crazy long for societies to change.
