Well. 1989TV is coming out Oct. 27th. Man, this woman really knows how to keep me going. How can I CTB without listening to those vault tracks?

In all seriousness, I do want to know: how many of you are here today at least in part due to the connection you have to Taylor? Surely I am not the only one who finds solace in her music. Though her lyrics never directly speak of suicide, I feel understood by her on a deep level. I'm 27 now, and I have been a Swiftie since I was at least 13. Growing up with her and having seen her struggle to get to where she is has inspired me. And now, she's out here continuing to make art and forcing me to stick around to see what else is coming.

It's a cruel summer with you, Taylor.

1989 is going to WRECK ME. :ehh:

I can't say i'm here because of Taylor but 'right where you left me' is one of my favorite songs of all time. it touches me from beginning to the end and I'm definitely not the same after hearing it for the first time. Also, the 1, it's time to go, all too well, you're on your own kid, midnight rain, long story short and many many others

Holy fucking God. We have unlimited access to all the music in the world thanks to the internet, and yet, this cunt has become completely unavoidable because the phone has convinced millions of people objective hot garbage is good. Shit like this makes me think maybe uncle Ted was right about everything.

Maybe? I don't dislike Taylor but Ted was indeed right about everything

I'm not sure what connection someone could reasonably have with a megastar worth a billion dollars. My gf is obsessed with her and I have to listen to the whole "you wouldn't last one hour" thing way more often than I'd like. I reckon she must have been marketed amazingly well to have this level of appeal. I just don't see it myself.

I've never really listened to much of her music before, but she is very hyped and a lot of people I know really like her music. What are some songs you'd recommend I listen to, so I can understand the hype?

If I don't forget, maybe I'll read about it someday.
This is kind of interesting.

I wonder why Taylor Swift is so popular and why a cult has developed around her.

For me, it doesn't stand out at all from other "big stars".
I only like memes about her and the plane.

I don't listen to her songs because I don't listen to this type of music in general. This is not for me.

What does she have that others don't?
Or maybe this is another episode titled: "the desire to belong to a group".

The world of "stars" is a bit foreign to me.
Maybe someone here can explain it to me?

I was also curious about the hype so I listened to her new album and generally liked it. This is my favorite, from someone who does not normally listen to pop. I know it's not anywhere near her most popular tracks though.

I like 1989, it's a really well made pop album. Her other releases usually have one or two songs I like, but 1989 is great from beginning to end.

It is about identification, feelings of being "the same", and music can reach people even without words, it is very powerful.

What makes her so "special", I don t know. Guess she s the perfect picture of that American girl, blond, skinny, relatively tall.... she is relatable. The dream of every man, basically. And of every girl who aspires to be loved, too.

She has had many plastic surgeries already, though. What I personally don t like is this image of perfection that she s eager to provide.

Perfect is boring and not real.

If I had to chose a mega star, it would be Rihanna. She s chilled, brave, authentic (as much as such a mega star can be).
