So, I want to give myself a new name irl to distance myself from all my trauma and harsh treatment in the past to give myself a fighting chance of moving on and healing from it all. But I'm stuck on choosing a name exactly. So I was wondering if (apart from Halley of course which is a contender it is a pretty name) you guys could suggest some names! (I know this is kind of strange, but I want to be a new person that is authentic to myself, my current name has so much shit behind it and I want to move on).

I'm a girl (if you didn't know lol) so something feminine or gender neutral would be cool.

Some I thought of: Salem, Iris, Lillie, Lillith, Jade, Leo

Don't know if there's a female equivalent to Manasseh but that seems relevant to what you're after. Means "cause to forget". Joseph named one of his sons Manasseh when letting go of his past and looking toward a better future.

Esperanza means hope, representing the belief in new beginnings and the optimism they bring. It signifies the expectation of positive change and a brighter future. It's femenine
These two are unisex
Genesis - greek for "origin."
Nouvel - French for "new" or "young."

Genesis - Hebrew for "origin."
Genesis is Greek, not Hebrew. The Hebrew name of Genesis is Breisheit and it means "firstfruit". None of the names normies use for the books of the torah are Hebrew.

Another option is Eleanor, for a name that might not be as widespread as Emily.

Yeah the Greek titles in some of the cases are arbitrary and designed to ensure readers look at the torah through a gentile/Christian lens. Ironically enough, the very opening verse of Breisheit that we normally render "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth" reads in a more literal sense "The firstfruit God cut down the skies and the land", which is loaded with messianic perspective when you take into account the number of times Paul's letters referred to Yeshua/Jesus as the firstfruit/firstborn of creation. More difficult than learning a new way of life in your twenties, is unlearning all of the lies you grew up with in the first place.

I have another suggestion: Anastasia (it means resurrection in Greek). You could use Anya as a nickname for it

It would help to also know the last name to figure out which name goes with that the best but that's probably a bad idea so you shouldn't give that out anyway. Also I guess you might already have an idea of what to change that into as well.

Off the top of my head Grace, Katie, and Morgan are names I would pick to name a girl if I could that are outside of the naming scheme I would have planned.

Anya? Why doesn't she just go with "Olga" or "Helega"? And I thought Anastasia was Russian? Luna? "Loony Lovegood? Idts...

Anya is a diminutive form of Anna/Ann and not Anastasia

Anastasia has a diminutive nickname Nastya (the nickname sounds a bit like a "commoner" name to me, wouldn't call that diminutive...)

She could go with Olga, Tatiana, Maria or Anastasia. I think it's originally Greek, that's what Google said lol

Helena or Helen.
What are your thoughts?

Interestingly, its popularity has sharply dropped in the UK.
I added Halley to the plot for comparison. (I am not a native speaker, but I suspect Hayley is pronounced similar to Halley.)

Helen is actually one of my middle names, after my grandmother who passed away before I was born. Apparently she was a lovely women who would take anyone in and feed them, even random people off the street!

Oops one of those are my current name! I'll let you guys guess and see if you can figure it out haha.

Thought I'd mention some of my possible names my parents thought of that they didn't name me:

Pansy (reason why not it is a term used in the uk that is deogatory against gay men or feminine men)
Heidi (the reason why not as it goes horrifically bad with my last name)
Anastasia (no clue why not)
Dolly (my dad thought it was stupid)
Holly (mum thought it was too basic)
Lucy (mum thought it was too chavy)
