I'm taking a train out of state by train as part of my plan, but for some reason I never really considered the possibility of my SN being confiscated. I'm not sure if this would fall under a prohibited item to have, looking at the list here. I could maybe see it falling under "Corrosive or dangerous chemicals or materials," and I'm not really sure what to do about it. Any thoughts? If I need to adjust my plan I will, but going out of state was a big part of it.

Ridden the Greyhound and Amtrak a handful of times. Maybe like 10 total and got a random inspection once out of the 10 times. Got my bag searched and everything, found nothing. So I guess there's a bit of risk. Anyways to perhaps mask it?
Oh I would have assumed they searched everyone's bags. I've definitely considered masking it but I genuinely have no idea where to even begin doing that. I don't need to bring the whole bottle, but I'm not sure what else to store it in that wouldn't be suspicious.

I would, if it was me get a small bottle of baby powder, empty out the baby powder, wash it and dry it carefully. Then refill with your sn? 😀There is a way around anything, you just have to find it!

I'm pretty sure it was just a random search. Not everyone gets there bags inspected hell I really don't think anyone does unless you're in an area with high drug trafficking or something like that. Not sure exactly how that works. But i recently read that a member here was able to compact the sn in pill form.

I guess the only problem with that would be to compact the lethal dose into pills. Which from what I read here is 25grams and it's alot. Hope it helps a little.

The times that I have traveled on Amtrak have been great. There were no searches at all getting on or anytime while on the train. A lot more space than on planes even in the regular seats. Private rooms or roomettes are the best but cost more. Depending on how far you are going it can take a really long time though but is a nice scenic ride. There are also certain days the trains travel on. I would highly recommend it as opposed to plane if you don't mind taking a little longer to get to your destination. If you were traveling far though like across the whole country it wouldn't make sense unless you were okay with getting there several days later. I wouldn't worry about it.

That's weird I've never had my luggage searched before on Greyhound or Amtrak.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. SN is not a dangerous chemical. It's salt.
