People who are not suicidal will probably never understand because you need to have been suicidal to actually understand.
When I got my first hanging setup tied I felt so good. Such a deep sense of relief. Most likely the best I've felt in 2 years since depression kicked in. There are many cases of the same feeling on this forum.
I think what many suicidal people are looking for is control. Control over their life, life which often feels like a torture cell from which there is no way out. The sole existence of an alternative, of a way out, is in itself a huge relief, and I dare to believe a path to actual recovery and at least bearable life.
Denying access to a peaceful way out denies our right to bodily autonomy and self-determination, and it also goes against society's own alleged goal to "make us feel better".
Many suicidal people also hate the world we live in, this at least is my case. Knowing that this world and society keeps me hostage makes me even more determined to leave. At least I'd feel understood and actually helped if society gave me an option.
Denying peace to the individual has no moral validation of any kind. Just let us go.
